Homebrew War badger Species Details

War Badgers are normally a solitary lot outside their boroughs, Though some go off for adventuring. These strange War Badgers are seen as oddities in the eyes of their fellows, mostly cause a War Badger is just as likely to fight someone as to befriend them.

War Badgers do tend to get along well with dwarves and will trade with them. Mostly for food or ale, largely due to War Badgers being terrible brewers due to impatience and a total lack of knowing the right amount of hops to put in.

War Badgers all worship Badgilor, Lord of the Badgers. His clergy all have one over-arching feature. "Fight the strongest opponent and then eat them."

War Badgers all have an inherent ability to enter a rage-fueled state; However, some have been stated to harness that rage instead; it does cause their bodies to swell and enlarge, making their already well-muscled bodies able to take even more damage and perform feats even some goliaths are impressed by.

War Badgers Have strong claws and even more terrifying bites. A War Badger can perform an unarmed strike using its claws to deal 1d4 plus its strength modifier. If a War Badger manages to grapple an opponent, it can make a bite attack dealing 1d6 plus its strength modifier.

A War Badger's thick fur makes it difficult to make a set of armor without being specially made for them. However, this doesn't impede them in fights most of the time. This makes them extra tough to damage, with even cold spells rolling off.

  • You have advantage on Strength checks and Strength saving throws.
  • When you make a melee weapon attack using Strength, you gain a bonus to the damage roll that increases as you gain levels as a barbarian, as shown in the Rage Damage column of the Barbarian table.
  • You have resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage.

If you are able to cast spells, you can’t cast them or concentrate on them while raging.

Your rage lasts for 1 minute. It ends early if you are knocked unconscious or if your turn ends and you haven’t attacked a hostile creature since your last turn or taken damage since then. You can also end your rage on your turn as a bonus action.

A war badger can enter this state twice a day. Starting at 9th level, this extends to 3 times a day. Then at 16th level, the War Badger can enter this state 4 times daily.

However, the size of their arms and the claws makes using standard shields impossible for them.

War Badgers don't give any fecks about your fear, or how mean you think you are. You are immune to fear effects.
