Homebrew Yeastids Species Details

Yeastids originated as evolved yeast, gaining sentience and a crude form of telepathy. Being mistaken for average yeast, Yeastids were used in baking bread for the masses. When eaten, they could use telepathic suggestion on their host until excreted. Through this suggestion, their humanoid forms were birthed, and in many different shapes and types of bread. Once inhabiting their bread forms, the Yeastids formed a hivemind and amassed enough telepathic power to communicate effectively and read minds to a small extent. Yeastids now wander the land aimlessly, either seeking to multiply or to suit the hivemind's whims. Many even are impressed upon by their surroundings and form their own alignments, but these Yeastids are quite rare.

Yeastids Traits

Yeastids, in their loaven forms, are quite obviously vulnerable to water. Their crusten shells provide extra armament in addition to any armor they may happen to wear. If consumed, targets may become dazed, confused, or even partially controlled by the hivemind.

Crust Carapace (Ability Score Increase)

The Crust of a Yeastid is akin to a thin layer of armor, protecting their soft and fluffy insides.

Disadvantage to all forms of water

Yeastids are cursed with a soft and vulnerable interior, easily soluble in water. Their outer crust also becomes soggy and malleable when wetted. The combination of these two traits make them weaker and slower altogether. 

Host Manipulation

When consumed, Yeastids make their host suggestive to their whims and can even gain total control over some.

Baked Brawny

The crust of these Yeastids has been exposed to greater temperatures, increasing the strength of their crusty shells.

Yeastids are simple beings, but their various hosts and creators have imprinted their speech upon them. As these folk were more of the ordinary kind, Yeastids are only proficient in Common, Halfling, and Telepathy. Though some have been known to harness bits of Primordial.
