Homebrew Agazi Species Details

Guardians of the Elden Wood

Hailing from the coniferous forests and rocky cliffs of Xi, the Agazi are a race marked by a history of war, a pursuit of knowledge, and a reverence of arcana.

Agazi have notably Elven features, but are distinguished by their jagged antlers, often carved with runes, and their pitch-black eyes.

These antlers could serve them well in combat, and look quite impressive, but they could also be a crutch in a narrow doorway. It's a give and take.

Agazi Traits

Your Agazi character has a variety of natural abilities, the result of their arcane blood.

The Mortal River

A caster opens a gash in his arm, and a gaseous magical energy flows from the wound and orbits his hands, flickering and sparking.

A warrior runs his axe across his own skin, and his blood flows unto the blade, and hardens into a crimson steel.

The Agazi, through their study of forbidden knowledge, have unlocked an innate form of blood magic, known as the Mortal River.

A number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, you can add an additional die to your weapon's damage, or, alternatively, damage for a spell that requires an attack roll.

The only caveat being the fact this relies on an archaic practice of ritual self-injury. When this feature is used, you must make a Constitution saving throw, DC 10 + half the extra damage dealt, or take half of the additional damage.

This die is 1d4 + your constitution modifier levels 1-4,

1d6 + your constitution modifier levels 5-8,

1d8 + your constitution modifier levels 9-12,

1d10 + your constitution modifier levels 13-16,

1d12 + your constitution modifier levels 17-20.

This ability resets on a long rest.

Blessing of the Lights

Your people have an innate tendency to magic. You gain proficiency in Arcana.

Blood Rush

Once per long rest, on a successful attack, you can convert temporary hit points into additional damage.

The total damage will include the temp HP expended + your Constitution modifier, and the target will be forced to succeed a DC 16 Constitution Saving Throw, and take half damage on a success.

This damage will be of the weapon’s type used to make the attack, but counts as magical for the purpose of resistances.

Ability Score Increase

You can improve two of your ability score by one point.

Antler Strike

As a bonus action, you can make an unarmed strike with your horns, which, on a hit does an amount of damage equal to 1d4 + your strength modifier.

For every ten feet moved toward the target in a straight line prior to the attack, you gain a +1 bonus to both your attack and damage rolls.

On a hit, the target must make a DC 12 strength saving throw, or be knocked prone.

Size

Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 35 feet.

Darkvision

Accustomed to navigating dark forests and narrow catacombs, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language of your choice.
