Homebrew Crabs Species Details

Curious Crabs

Crabs are friendly and smart beings that always live near the sea or lakes. They average 3 to 4.5 feet tall and weigh 40 to 80 pounds. Their hard shells can range in color from a bluish-gray to a warm red or purple. Their small, almost beady eyes protrude slightly from their oval head and often look like they are looking intently at something or someone. They are very curious about everything around them, and will warmly welcome visitors out of investigation.

A Crabs' social standing is largely determined by their claws, which are the pride and joy of many crabs. Their clothes are typically made of fabric scraps found by scavenger crabs and ingeniously crafted into beautiful, vibrant, garments.

Crab Capitalism

Though crabs have a relatively simple society, they have a complex social structure and economy system. Although they do use gold, silver, and bronze pieces, in their own cities, they also use shells. Any flat, metallic shell will do. They have whole professions dedicated to collecting these shells for use in the economy, though it is well known that these Crabs are often corrupt.

Crabs are separated by class, the middle class and peasantry being completely separated from the royalty and high class. Socioeconomic disparities are rampant in the community, sparking hostilities and a sudden need for military Crabs.

The Crabs who travel can often happen upon a fortune out in the world. This is mainly because Crabs also prize random objects, art, and small trinkets. Scavengers look for discarded trash and even venture far from the water to trade with humans. They love to make art and artists are highly prized.

Sea Homes

Crabs thrive near water, and it is hard for them to be without it. When traveling they need to hydrate extra, so they always live near water. Living near the ocean is preferred, although some crabs live near rivers or springs. The lower class typically live in burrows with a few close family members. These burrows are very close to each other, and the Crab community tends to be very tight. The higher classes live above ground in extravagantly built sand and driftwood castles and homes. These homes can be adorned with shells, trinkets, art, and sea glass.

Bright Eyed

Crabs are very curious creatures, and will rarely turn away the opportunity to learn or experience something new. Crabs are always observing the world around them, and love to take in new sights, sounds, and smells. Many of them love to travel the coastline, and many new Crab cities pop up every year.

Crab Names

Crab communication is much different than communication of other races, although most of them can speak common as a second language. Crabish names are sounds made by rubbing together and clicking of claws. When dealing with races that have spoken names, Crabs either pick a human name, or translate their given name into common. However, sometimes they might mistranslate the name, leading to variations in common names or words that sound funny to outsiders. They tend to only use one name, as all names spoken in Crabish are unique.

Blue Crab

Blue Crabs tend to be royalty or part of high society. They are more versed in the arts and might know an extra language or two. They often live above ground in beautifully built sand or driftwood structures and right on the ocean.

Hermit Crab

Hermit crabs are closer to Crab peasantry. They live in cozy burrows under the ground but are very kind and friendly. They love traveling whenever they can, and having guests is one of their favorite occasions.

Rock Crab

These Crabs are less outgoing and bold than other types of crabs. They are more introverted and tend to study the arts and fine literature. Many live in rocky areas that have harsher temperatures and weather patterns, so they are very hardy.
