Homebrew Chitrin Elite Species Details

Chitrin have insectile features and blade like arm appendages Their bodies are encased by a hard shell of protective chitin and they have a natural resistance to acid.

Chitrin mainly speak through the act of telepathy or in an odd clicking and clattering language of their own creation, but have been known to learn other languages. Chitrin without a Brood Mother generally die but some gain a relative sentience that expands over time eventually becoming their own 'person'.

Sometimes whenever a soldier is being developed it will become an elite soldier instead. The appearance of elite soldiers is a sign that the colony is growing and a time to rejoice for the chitrin. Elite soldiers have a bit more intelligence than normal soldiers, and follow the same general duties. Being fewer in number elite soldiers are normally put in charge of groups of soldier chitrin in order to better maintain the colonies prosperity.

Appearance. The elite soldiers look like a shining version of their soldier kin with several dangerous tendrils sprouting from their backs with sharpened tips. Their armblades have been replaced for a set of deadly claws that function in mostly the same fashion. Their mandibles, on the other hand, have shrunk to a point that they are impractical in combat scenarios.

Multiple Appendages. The elite soldiers have lost their armblades but instead gained a set of powerful skewering appendages that can be used to strike opponents from afar. Their claws are no less deadly than their brothers own blades either, though they no longer have mandibles capable of ripping and tearing flesh the extra appendages more than make up for it.

New Thought. Elite soldiers think more than their soldier brethren. Often they come up with new guard routes or set posts in order to better defend the hive in case of attacks.

Colonial Martyrs. Elite soldiers are more than willing to give up their lives for their colonies. Sometimes even disobeying the hiveminds commands to ensure the longevity of their fellow chitrin.

Knowledge and Training. Elite soldiers are inborn with knowledge from the broodmothers experiences and develop fully capable of defending their colonies. Even so they will continue to bring knowledge back to their broodmothers, leading to stronger and stronger future generations of chitrin.
