Homebrew Bio-Construct Race Species Details
Ability Score Increase: Your Constitution score increases by 2, and your Dexterity score increases by 1.
Size: Your size is Medium.
Speed: Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Unnatural Resilience: Due to your unique biological composition, you have resistance to poison damage and advantage on saving throws against being poisoned.
Assimilation:
- Absorption: As an action, you can attempt to absorb the essence of a defeated creature. Make a melee attack against the creature, and if it hits, you gain temporary hit points equal to the creature's hit point maximum. Half of these temporary hit points become permanent hit points, rounded down. The temporary hit points last for 1 hour or until depleted.
- Adaptation: Whenever you gain temporary hit points, you can choose to add half of the total as a bonus to your next saving throw or skill check. This bonus must be used before the temporary hit points expire.
Shapeshifting: As an action, you can alter your physical form to mimic another humanoid or monstrous humanoid creature of your size. This transformation lasts for 1 hour, until you use an action to end it, or until you are reduced to 0 hit points. While transformed, you gain advantage on Deception checks made to pass as the creature you are mimicking. You cannot replicate specific abilities or special attacks of the creature.
Regeneration: You have the ability to regenerate lost hit points. At the start of your turn, if you have at least 1 hit point and are not unconscious, you regain hit points equal to your Constitution modifier.
Tail Attack: You are proficient with your tail, which is a natural weapon. It deals 1d6 bludgeoning damage, and you are considered proficient with the attack. The damage increases to 1d8 at 5th level, 1d10 at 11th level, and 1d12 at 17th level.
Drain Life: When you hit a creature with your tail attack, you can choose to grapple the target. While grappling, you can use your bonus action on subsequent turns to drain the life force from the grappled creature. The target must make a Constitution saving throw against a DC equal to 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus. On a failed save, the target takes necrotic damage equal to your level, and you regain hit points equal to half the damage dealt. The grapple ends if the target succeeds on the saving throw or if you are incapacitated.
Ki Mastery: You have an innate connection to ki energy. You gain the following benefits:
- Ki Pool: You have a pool of ki points equal to your proficiency bonus. You can use these points to fuel certain ki features.
- Ki Saving Throws: You gain proficiency in saving throws against spells and effects that require a Dexterity or Constitution saving throw.
- Ki Techniques: You learn two ki techniques of your choice from the Monk class. You can spend ki points to use these techniques as per the Monk's class features. Your ki save DC is 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier.
- Ki Recovery: You regain expended ki points when you finish a short or long rest.

- Physical Enhancement: In Semi-Perfect Form, the Bio-Construct's physical abilities are greatly enhanced. They gain a +2 bonus to their Strength and Dexterity scores.
- Tail Evolution: The Bio-Construct's tail undergoes a transformation, becoming stronger and more versatile. Their tail attacks now deal an additional 1d6 damage, and they gain access to a new tail ability called "Tail Whip."
- Tail Whip: The Bio-Construct can use their tail to strike with incredible force, knocking enemies prone. When making a melee attack with their tail, the target must make a Strength saving throw against a DC equal to 8 + the Bio-Construct's proficiency bonus + their Strength modifier. On a failed save, the target is knocked prone.
- Enhanced Abilities: In Semi-Perfect Form, the Bio-Construct gains an additional use of their Ki points. They now have a total of 3 Ki points to spend on their Ki techniques and abilities.
- Permanent Transformation: The Semi-Perfect Form is a permanent state for the Bio-Construct, replacing their Imperfect Form. Once they reach 10th level, they permanently transition into the Semi-Perfect Form.
- Power Growth: As the Bio-Construct continues to level up, their Semi-Perfect Form evolves and becomes even more powerful. At 15th level, they gain access to their Perfect Form.
With this update, the Semi-Perfect Form becomes a permanent transition for the Bio-Construct, replacing their Imperfect Form entirely. As an action, the Bio-Construct can make a melee attack with their tail against all creatures within a 10-foot cone. Each target must make a Dexterity saving throw against a DC equal to 8 + the Bio-Construct's proficiency bonus + their Strength modifier. On a failed save, the target takes tail damage and is pushed 10 feet away from the Bio-Construct.
