Homebrew Devimar Species Details

"And lo, this abomination gazed at the sunset with sorrow filled eyes. Her death sentence was to be carried out by the church on the morrow. The final sun set she would ever witness and no one to share it with. Solitude had been the theme of her life. Why should it not be the same in death?"

Devimar are often mistaken for an odd type of tiefling though thier devil parentage does not make them much different. They are little more than lost souls in a world of terrible circumstances. Those who are lucky enough to seek out companions, family, relationships do so with vigor and protect those connections with intensity. For some, the courruption of the 9 Hells has left them devoid of emotion and ambitious for power.

Abominations

Devimar are considered abominations by the church and have to be cautious of extremist clerics/paladins who demand their death. The birth of a Devimar is often the product of non consentual relations between an Aasimar and Devil, wether by means of brute force, trickery, or the negotiation of an unethical deal. As such, many organized religions view them as an evil victory over the forces of good.

A Life of Solitude

In the Living Realm, Devimar often keep to themselves and away from large hubs of people, especially those where churches are present. It is rare for a Devimar to be steeped in family, history, and love. They often spend their lives looking for a place to fit with people they can trust.

Devimar Flight

Devimar have a fly speed of 35 and their wings are only strong enough to carry their own weight.

Free Will

Despite its mixed divine and infernal roots, a Devimar is mortal and possesses free will. Some of the more evil leaning Devimar may find happiness pursuing power in the 9 Hells or may instead escape and cause chaos in the living realm. Those with ethics that favor the good side may find themselves doing good deeds in the living realm, or helping others escape the 9 hells.

Demon parents may try to exert control over their offspring or to use their children as tools of their nefarious machinations. The Aasimar parent is often killed after giving birth however, those that survive, find ways to return to the divine realm.

Devimar Names

Devimar often have the names given to them by their Devil parent. However, many choose their own names as they come of age as a demonstration of their independence.
