Homebrew Beast Species Details

A tussle in the corner of her room. A small stuffed poodle sits in a little chair. It moves. Suddenly from a cute little innisont stuffed animal, they become a giant deadly beast. Claws like daggers and teeth like knifes. It lurks around the girls bed making sure she is safe. It then turns back into a stuffed poodle.

Beastly Origin

Beasts don’t know exactly where they came from or why they are here in the first place. But they do know one thing, to protect their owner at any cost. Some people say they were a science experiment gone wrong. And some say they are a lost spirit who got trapped into an object.

The most popular theory is that they were created to protect a loved one and were given as gifts. Though their true origin is up to the player! They remember nothing of what they were before but it is fun to collect memories of their past life and learn who they really are.

Loyalty Like No Other 

Beasts have one person they are usually gifted to and will risk anything to protect them. That person could be the damsel in distress in the story, someone in the party or dead. But all I’m telling you is they never leave their side unless it is physically inpossible to do so. They will not only protect them but will also do other kind jesters like tucking the person in bed, hunting for them or even entertaining them!

Haunted Objects 

Beasts are never just in their beastly form. They take a form of an object like a stuffed animal and will show that in their more beastly form. For example, say your beast takes the form of a vase. They can’t just turn into a vase with arms and legs (I mean they can if you really wanted, it’s up to you) but instead they might have the designs of the vase on it like flowers. But then again it is completely up to you.

Beast Traits

Beasts are very different from each other and don’t see each other at all.

Ability Score Increase

Your Strength score increases by 2, and your Constitution score increases by 1.

Age

Beasts usually take the basic form of an object so they could live forever

Size

Goliaths are between 7 and 8 feet tall and weigh between 280 and 340 pounds. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Natural Athlete

You have proficiency in the Athletics skill.

Stone’s Endurance

You can focus yourself to occasionally shrug off injury. When you take damage, you can use your reaction to roll a d12. Add your Constitution modifier to the number rolled and reduce the damage by that total. After you use this trait, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Powerful Build

You count as one size larger when determining your carrying capacity and the weight you can push, drag, or lift.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Giant.
