Creating Your Character

If you create a Daru character, follow these additional rules during character creation.

Ability Score Increases

When determining your character’s ability scores, increase Charisma and Intelligence by +1 each.

Languages

Your character can speak, read, and write Common and Daru.

Creature Type

Your creature type is humanoid and your size is medium.

Life Span

Daru are hatched from eggs and mature by the age of 6-12, and do not typically live longer than 30 years.

Height and Weight

Adult Daru range between 3ft to 5ft tall and can range anywhere from 50 pounds to 200 pounds

Daru have the following racial traits

Jumping Leaps

Your powerful leg muscles and natural acrobatic abilities allow you to make impressive leaps. You gain an additional 10 feet to your jump distance when making standing or running jumps.

Swift Swimmer

Your body is perfectly adapted for underwater exploration. You have a swim speed of 30 feet, allowing you to effortlessly navigate through water environments.

Breath of The Depths

You can breathe both air and water, drawing sustenance from both domains. You do not need to hold your breath underwater, and you can speak, cast spells, and perform other actions normally while submerged.

Environmental Sensitivity

• In Warm Environments: When the ambient temperature rises above a certain threshold, typically in hot deserts or scorching climates, the Daru's movement speed is halved. The heat slows them down, and their bodies struggle to regulate temperature effectively.
• Hydration Requirement: To counteract the effects of warm environments, the Daru must hydrate themselves manually. They must consume a sufficient amount of water or fluids every 4 to 6 hours. Failure to do so extends the reduction in movement speed until properly hydrated.
• Rejuvenating Waters: When the Daru is adequately hydrated, their movement speed returns to normal, allowing them to navigate warm environments without hindrance.
