Homebrew Demon Spawn Species Details

"What sets demon Spawn apart from Tieflings is their unbreakable connection to Hell. They signed a contract with their lives, simply by being born". - Unknown

Demons have long coveted a permanent place in the mortal realm. By joining their DNA with humanoid races, they attempted to create demonic servants to pave the way for them.

One way or another, your heritage is linked to a demon lord. Perhaps your parents made a deal, or one of your parents was a demon in disguise. Either way, your demonic heritage gives you enhanced durability and magical potential.

You have resistance to fire damage and bludgeoning, piercing and slashing damage from non-magical weapons.

Additionally, as a detrimental property, you are susceptible to being summoned by those able to summon lesser or greater demons, including your demonic parent.

Demonic contracts

Demons have, at best, a fluid sense of ownership, in that when they want something they take it. Therefore, when the time came the demons who spawned a humanoid offspring would come to collect what was "rightfully" theirs.

Demon Spawn Traits

Your half-demon character has the following racial traits.

Demonic resistance

You gain resistance to fire damage and bludgeoning, piercing and slashing damage, when dealt by non-magical weapons.

Age

Demon Spawn, like their human counterpart, reach adulthood at age 21. However, they can live much longer, up to 300 years.

Darkvision

You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only a fiery shade of orange.

Hell's Gift

At 5th level you receive a weapon from the demonic courts of hell. The weapon is seared into your flesh like a tattoo, forever binding it to you and you to it. It is a very painful process...

You chose the appearance of your weapon, which does 2d8 elemental damage (same as the type chosen for resistance) on top of the normal damage for that weapon type.

As a bonus action you can summon your demonic weapon, which will appear in your hand in a flash of fire. You lose 1d6 hit points every time the weapon is summoned this way and lose 2 additional hitpoints at the end of each of your turns thereafter. Dismissing your weapon does not cost any hit points but it does cost an action. When it is not being used, the weapon appears like an elaborate tattoo.
