Homebrew Dhampir Species Details

A powerful mix of a Half Vampire and Half any other race that takes some traits from vampires and limits them.

Dhampir Traits

Dhampirs borrow many traits from their vampire side, but the traits come with limitations. Talk with your DM about what traits your character gets from their other half race

Solar Sensitivity

Being half Vampire makes being in unobstructed sunlight rather uncomfortable. Cannot use any traits you get from your Vampiric side in sunlight

Racial Bonus

+2 STR, +2 DEX (not affected by Solar Sensitivity)

Malicious Morph

Once per short/long rest, you may morph into a vampire bat for minutes/turns equal to your level. While in this state, you can fly and use Echolocation. If you go into sunlight while in this form you will instantly morph back into your normal state. You can only use your bite attack when you are a bat. You can also talk to other bats, you cannot speak common.

Bloodthirst

As half Vampire and half normal race, you can eat normal foods or suck blood to get nutrients. Some Dhampirs who go very long stretches of time without sucking blood start to irresistibly crave it, and those who never eat any normal food may get sick of blood.

Bite Attack

As a Dhampir you can suck the blood of a creature within 5 ft (if they have any blood at all). In battle, it takes 3 actions total to completely drain the target of blood. Out of battle it takes 3 minutes. Upon a hit, the target is paralyzed for as long as you are sucking their blood and they take 1d4 + 1 piercing damage. The amount of turns/minutes it takes to drain a target may vary for larger and smaller races, this is up to the DM. Attacks made on you while you are using this attack have advantage. The effects of this attack vary for how long a target has been losing blood. After 1 action/minute they will feel dizzy and lightheaded, but can be healed through normal means. After 2 actions/minutes they have lost so much blood they can only be saved through magical healing. After 3 turns, they are completely drained of blood and will live for only seconds before dying. During these last seconds of consciousness, a very powerful healing spell can save them

Undead Ancestry

You can speak with undead creatures that know/knew Common or any other language  you know and you have Resistance to Necrotic damage.
