Homebrew Android Species Details

Not born but created. An android knows that it is not human or like any other living creature. It knows that it was created for a purpose and yet they yearn to live as their own people. They can feel emotions and express it but are unsure if they have souls. They live amongst the living now, many created just to be created, trying to find the answer of whether they have a soul or not constantly plagued by the doubt of their humanity or right to be alive.

Created to Live

To human androids look no different than their friends or family but others can sense thier artficial nature. Some are able to blending in without inssue and others stick out of the crowd. Some were built with a purpose, some were built for fun, and some were built with no reason at all, but they all yearn to be considered one of the living. They find themselves amongst humans mostly due to being their creations most of the time but there are a few who reside with other races, scholars or one brought up by them. 

Scholars, Wanders, and Seekers

Androids truly have no land of their own though they are welcome in most cities especially those occupied by humans. They have a shaky relationship with those engrossed in Arcana as some may see their tech as an aberration against the magic that can produce similar golems and warforged that act like android. this does not faze the androids as some seek out the knowledge of the arcane to use for their own purposes. 

Many androids are scholars seeking more and more knowledge. Their thirst is unquenchable for the wealth of knowledge that can be found in the world around them and they will go to great length to acquire it. Some wander the lands unsure of what to do with themselves. Some are lost to their question about their existence and soul and seek out others who can help them find the answers. Others are seekers looking for the hidden parts of the world and other planes of exsistence. They look to push the boundaries of what is known and are sound in their own self-image.

Machinery Veiled in Flesh

Androids are their own people. They can think and act on their own volition though some are more controlled than others much like slaves or servants. Many seek to become independent of their creators and many succeed.

Manufactured Imitation

Many Androids have AI that allows them to be very much like a human in thoughts and actions. Some are more realistic than other ranging from being obviously a robotic constuction to indistigusiable from other humans. It all depends on their creator.

Arcana and Machinery

While their relationship with those who practice the arcane arts is shaky, androids have a surprising aptitude for magic and many have found success in the arcane arts. due to their ability to store information in mass, many android magic casters are able to learn and retain more information that most of the arcane practitioner without the use of tomes or scrolls as it is all stored in their central intelligence. this makes them fearsome magic users though they are still limited by the rules of arcana. Some androids have been imbued with magic from their advent whether it be enchantment(created from enchanted or magic maters or enchanted afterward) or from their energy source(magic crystals).

Quick Learners

Androids are surprisingly quick learner who can pick most any skill or job be simply observer someone complete the task and practicing it themselves. This the reason why they are able to stay with the likes of Elves and Dwarfs as they quickly learned their lifestyle and emulate it to fit right into those areas. Some find it uncanny their ability to learn at such pace and others are insipred by it. Though all can agree they are impressed by it. Androids will succed at a task they put their mind to, it is a matte rof time for them.

 

Android Traits

Your android will have many special traits due to their manufactured nature.

Ability Score Increase

Your Intelligence increases by 2 and your Strength increases by 1.

Age

Android can live indefinitely if their AI can be transferred between bodies. If not then their life span is that of their bodies deterioration rate. Android can repair their bodies to increase their durability.

Alignment

They have no particular alignment though most seem to err on the sides of whatever races they live amongst. 

Size

They are about the same size as humans with some being made specifically smaller or larger than such.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvision

Due to your advanced vision percepts,  you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can discern color in darkness.

Advanced Precepts

You have advantage on Insight, Investigation, and Perception checks when looking for a stealthed target or traps.

Last Resort

If you were to take damage that would put you into the dying state, you can choose to take the blunt of damage on one of you body parts to survive with 1 hp though you break that body part. This can not be used until after a long rest as you will need repair the broken part body part.

Sleep Mode

Instead of taking a long rest, you take on a lower processing state and become seemingly inert for 6 hours. However, you are not unconscious and can still see and hear normally.

Artificial Body

• You have advantage against poision damage rolls.
• You can not contact disease.
• You do not need to eat or drink but can partake in such actions.

Language

You can speak, read, and write Common and two extra languages of your choice.
