Homebrew Draconic Sentinel Species Details
Her father stood on the first of the three stairs that led down from the portal, unmoving. The scales of his face had grown paler around the edges, but Clanless Mehen still looked as if he could wrestle down a dire bear himself. His familiar well-worn armor was gone, replaced by violet-tinted scale armor with bright silvery tracings. There was a blazon on his arm as well, the mark of some foreign house. The sword at his back was the same, though, the one he had carried since even before he had found the twins left in swaddling at the gates of Arush Vayem.
For all her life, Farideh had known that reading her father’s face was a skill she’d been fortunate to learn. A human who couldn’t spot the shift of her eyes or Havilar’s would certainly see only the indifference of a dragon in Clanless Mehen’s face. But the shift of scales, the arch of a ridge, the set of his eyes, the gape of his teeth—her father’s face spoke volumes.
But every scale of it, this time, seemed completely still—the indifference of a dragon, even to Farideh.
Born of dragons and blessed with draconic heritage, the Draconic Sentinels stride confidently through a world that gazes upon them with awe and wonder. Forged by the very essence of draconic powers, Draconic Sentinels emerged from sacred dragon eggs as a singular race, embodying the harmonious fusion of dragon might and humanoid spirit. Among their kind, some Draconic Sentinels faithfully serve the majestic dragons, while others take up arms as stalwart warriors in epic conflicts, and a few wander, seeking their purpose amidst the enigmatic tapestry of existence.
Honored Draconic Sentinels
Draconic Sentinels bear a striking resemblance to their majestic dragon kin, standing tall and resolute in humanoid form, yet lacking wings and a tail. While the first Draconic Sentinels displayed vibrant scales mirroring the hues of their draconic ancestors, the passing of generations and interbreeding has led to a more uniform appearance. Their exquisite, small scales typically exhibit shades of brass or bronze, occasionally embracing scarlet, rust, gold, or copper-green. Possessing a formidable build, they often tower at heights approaching 6½ feet, with weights surpassing 300 pounds. Their hands and feet bear talonlike claws, adorned with three fingers and a thumb on each hand.
Within certain Draconic Sentinel clans courses the potent blood of a specific dragon lineage, permeating their beings. These esteemed Draconic Sentinels proudly display scales that more closely resemble those of their dragon forebears—gleaming crimson, verdant green, azure blue, snowy white, lustrous obsidian, or resplendent metallic gold, silver, brass, copper, or bronze.
Clans of Self-Sufficiency
For the Draconic Sentinels, the clan reigns supreme, surpassing even life itself in importance. They owe their unwavering loyalty and respect to their respective clans, placing them above all else, even the gods. The actions and behavior of every Draconic Sentinel bear the weight of their clan's honor, as any act bringing shame could lead to expulsion and exile. Each Draconic Sentinel understands their place and responsibilities within the clan, with honor dictating the preservation of these boundaries.
The relentless pursuit of self-improvement echoes the self-sufficiency that defines their race. Draconic Sentinels place great value on skill and excellence in every endeavor. Failure is abhorred, pushing them to exert extraordinary efforts before relinquishing a pursuit. A Draconic Sentinel aspires to master a particular skill, considering it a lifelong pursuit. Members of other races who share this unwavering commitment will find it easier to earn the respect of a Draconic Sentinel.
While Draconic Sentinels strive for self-reliance, they acknowledge that aid may be required in challenging circumstances. However, their first recourse is always to their clan, for within the clan lies the best source of assistance. When a clan is in need, it turns to another Draconic Sentinel clan before seeking help from other races or even the gods themselves.

DRACONIANS
In some tales, particularly in the Dragonlance setting, followers of the malevolent goddess Takhisis discovered a dark ritual that corrupted the eggs of metallic dragons, giving rise to the twisted race known as Draconians. These Draconians, aligned with the five types of metallic dragons, fought under Takhisis' banner in the War of the Lance: Auraks (gold), Baaz (brass), Bozak (bronze), Kapak (copper), and Sivak (silver). Instead of possessing traditional draconic breath weapons, they exhibit unique and potent magical abilities.

Breath Weapon
You can use your action to exhale destructive energy. Your draconic ancestry determines the size, shape, and damage type of the exhalation. When you use your breath weapon, each creature in the area of the exhalation must make a saving throw, the type of which is determined by your draconic ancestry. The DC for this saving throw equals 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus. A creature takes 2d6 damage on a failed save, and half as much damage on a successful one. The damage increases to 3d6 at 6th level, 4d6 at 11th level, and 5d6 at 16th level. After you use your breath weapon, you can’t use it again until you complete a short or long rest.
Damage Resistance
You have resistance to the damage type associated with your draconic ancestry.
Languages
You can speak, read, and write Common and Draconic. Draconic is thought to be one of the oldest languages and is often used in the study of magic. The language sounds harsh to most other creatures and includes numerous hard consonants and sibilants.
