Homebrew Akhorran Species Details
Unscarred, Untouched, Unremarkable?
The Akhorrans are said to be what humans were before
the God’s War. Before outside forces, and the chaotic
world itself, changed humanity into something else. The
Plane-touched were shaped by their alien surroundings,
the Dragonbloods were corrupted by injections of
draconic blood, the Nadiri by their past as Illithid slaves,
just to name a few. But the Akhorran are said to have
managed to evade such influences, for better or worse.
While they do not possess sorcerous powers like the
Tieflings, or the ability to see in the dark like the Nadiri,
they seem to have a knack for divine magic and a
natural resistance to magical influence. In the end, it is
up to each individual Akhorran to prove their own worth
just as it is with all the peoples of the Dreamers’s
Realm.
The typical Akhorran stands at around 3-6 ft and weigh
around 40-90 kg. Akhorran skin shades range from
nearly black to very pale, and hair colors from black to
blond to red; males might sport facial hair that is sparse
or thick. Akhorrans reach adulthood in their teens and
can live up to about 90 years. The Akhorrans are a
people marked by their unremarkable nature. They are
physically diverse, but rarely do they have inherent
magical ability or exceptional physical prowess. They do
however seem to be inherently resilient as they rarely
catch disease and heal quickly from injury.
Old and New Faith
Most Akhorrans are Emiratan, meaning they worship
one or several of the Emiratan Gods. Some Akhorran
believe that they are particularly favored by the Divine
and that this is why they have remained unscarred
through the Godless Age. Sempta especially is popular
among some Akhorran as he is seen as the avatar of
civilisation and peace. Sathoui, by contrast, is less
favored. Some Akhorrans go so far as to exclude her
from worship, despite such omittance being deeply
taboo.
Some Akhorran keep an older faith: Atakkanism. They
call themselves Revivalists and they believe the First
God, Atakka, will one day return and recreate the lost
Paradise on the Mortal Plane, and that the Akhorran
are his chosen people that will be the arbiters of this
new Paradise. They also have a counterpart in the
Eisminian Cult, a group of Akhorran who also believe
that an older god will come to their rescue, but that it
will be Eismene who does so. And when she does, she
will not bring back an old Paradise, but push humanity
into a new stage of evolution, leaving the old world
behind. These two groups do not get along.
