Homebrew Altriz Species Details

The Altriz race lives deep in dark forests often full of magic, and most Altriz’ will go their whole life never meeting another intelligent race. The Altriz protect their forest to death, and don't ever let anyone other than animals into the forest.

All Altriz’s respect nature, and never hurt it, this will often lead to them living in caves and only eating pre-deceased animals, because of their hard way of life, the Altriz have higher stats on strength, constitution, and Dexterity.

The Altriz are independent creatures and leave their home once they know basic survival instincts, often around the age of 12. Before that age, parents are supposed to teach them the ways of the Alteiz. Basically telling them to attack any other mal-intending race, respect all nature, how to survive on their own, and how to be lethal. Below the age of twelve is the only time it is culturally accepted to kill creatures of the forest (on purpose), but not any time after.

Once the Altriz’ leave home, they are expected to go to monthly meetings with one of two cult-like groups of their choice, the Leu (LEW) and the Cae (KY), although a lot of the Altriz race join one of either groups at some point in their life, most Altriz choose to never attend a single meeting, living in solitude forever. The Cae and Leu groups contrast each other in all ways possible. The Cae group focuses on bringing mischief, often cursing items and making plans for pranks, murder, and evil for a select few to bring to towns and spread the evil. The Leu group fixes all of these plans, un-curses items, and even go as far as to fox the problems of the other races as well (or at least they believe they are). The Leu group also believes of the idea that one need know nothing to be happy, and will often spend their whole life not learning a thing beyond survival. The Cae group, on the other hand, is often greedy for knowledge and will devour books, even if they come from the outside races. Although someone from the outside might see these two groups as black and white, good and bad, light and dark, both groups have a mutual understanding that they live in gray areas, reasoning that although mischief is often seen as evil, it often brings people together, and that good things are often seen as miracles, they can make people greedy for more good things.  

The Altriz are expected to live alone their whole lives, and anyone who chooses to have a partner in life (romantic or not) is shunned from society and exiled into the common world. These people wont be accepted back anywhere until they fight to death, the survivor being accepted back into the group with all sins forgiven.

Multiple pregnancies are forbidden and any set of twins, triplets, or more are expected to fight each other to death at the time they leave home. This is to prevent the event of the siblings becoming close with each other. 

The Altriz are only fully recognized by few people in the neighboring towns, and even though at the end of day the Altriz mean no harm, legends and fables often call them villains. This causes the Altriz tribe to be heavily prosecuted and murdered when caught.

The Altriz race are very protective of their land and have poisonous and venomous plants guarding the outskirts of their forest, as well as specifically trained warriors. These measures of security are designed to keep everything out, but all Altriz are taught how to get past these measures. They are also cursed with not being able to tell anyone outside of the race about these tactics, and whenever they try, they burst into magic flames for 3 hours that are impossible to put out, they cause intolerable pain throughout the time limit (leaving them writhing and useless), but don’t deliver any damage to the person.

Side note: Even though the spell noted above does not allow people to tell other people how to pass these measures, it does allow them to lead others in.

Other Side note: Anyone exiled from the forest has all knowledge of how to pass the security measures extracted from their brains.

Altriz Traits

Altriz’s have a +2 in Constitution, +2 in Dexterity, and +1 in strength. The race also has dark vision and speaks their own language (Altazy)
