Homebrew Aur Ashuri Species Details
Mark of the Dragon
Humans living within the draconic lands are all slaves
to the dragons in one way or the other. All pay heavy
tithes, including a hatchling tithe, meaning a third of
their offspring is to be taken into the Dragonguard.
These people range in appearance based on their
family’s generational favor with the dragons. Some
might only be blessed with a few scales scattered across
their skin, while others who are born within Aur Ashuri
families look like dragons standing erect in humanoid
form. They are covered in thick, scaly hide in various
hues though often monochromatic. They are tall and
strongly built, often standing close to 6-7 feet in height
and weighing 300 pounds or more. Hands and feet often
end in talonlike claws and some grow tails or even
wings. The coloration of the scales is often distinct for
each Aur Ashuri family, though they tend towards
reddish hues.
Blessed Slaves
To an Aur Ashuri living within the draconic lands, their
loyalty to the Dragons and their own family is more
important than life itself. Aur Ashuri owe their devotion
and respect to their draconic lord above all else, as the
dragons allow no gods except themselves. Each Aur
Ashuri’s conduct reflects on the honor of their family
and bringing dishonor to the family can result in exile or
death. Aur Ashuri families live in luxury in Glimmer,
with an abundance of wealth and power and plenty of
slaves of their own. Most of the day-to-day governance
and political decisions are made by the Aur Ashuri
themselves, though they are always at the mercy of the
draconic will. Entire families rise and fall at the whim of
the dragons, so the political struggles in Glimmer are
incredibly volatile and rife with betrayal and deception.
Boogeymen of the East
The Aur Ashuri, aside from being political middle
managers, also feature as the elite soldiers of the
Dragonguard. Aur Ashuri are not spared from the
hatcling tithe and the Aur Ashuri often serve as officers.
The infamous Glimmer Outriders are also exclusively
made up of loyal Aur Ashuri. These are bands of
warriors on horseback who ride out of their draconic
homeland in order to raid nearby settlements to find
slaves and to find deserters.
There are extremely few Aur Ashuri who live outside
the draconic lands. Aur Ashuri who try to escape are
mercilessly hunted down by Outriders and brough back
to Glimmer to face judgement, which is likely a
torturous death. The judgement often extends to the
person’s entire family so as to not let the weakness of
the blood spread and to set an example for others who
are considering the same crime.
