Homebrew Bakeneko Species Details

In certain cultures across the world, cats have been associated with death. You personify that.

Bakeneko Traits

Severe shapeshift, Demonic shape

Demon's Charisma

Once per day, the player can cast charm person on any person who sees the Bakeneko in feline form, so long as the targets have not seen the Bakeneko transform. The player can choose who is affected by the Charm. The effected target will attempt to pick up, hold, or pet the Bakeneko. The effect ends as soon as any target takes damage, sees the Bakeneko transform, or when the Bakeneko leaves line of sight.

Ability Score Increase

Cats are naturally charismatic, and get a +2 to Charisma modifiers

Severe shapeshift

First form: Human(oid). Easiest form to maintain. Not much to say, beyond having the best resistance to water.

Second form: Feline. Most mobile form. Fear of water is present, but it doesn't do physical harm (unless you're drowning, in which case... good luck).

Third form: Monster. Most damage heavy form. Water causes 1d4 damage per turn when in direct contact. Hardest form to maintain (15 turns of combat or 1 hour of in game time).

Demonic Shapes

The more you shapeshift, the worse it feels. You also get hungry faster when you shapeshift a lot. If you shapeshift more than 4 times in a long rest, you need double rations and you take 1d4 temporary damage.

Note: One shapeshift is either A. Human to beast and back to human or B. Beast to beast. Human is a bit of a freebie in terms of... shapeshiftery.
