Homebrew Tuskarr Species Details

The humanoid walruses called Tuskarr are often oases of calm in the howling tundra of the north. They hum or chant in sonorous tones and move slowly or sit in perfect stillness. They are known for their fishing, which will have them standing for days at one spot. If provoked to action, Tuskarr are true terrors—bellowing with rage, hollering and slapping their guts. Their serene wisdom, fierce loyalty, and unwavering conviction are tremendous assets to their tribes.

Wandering tribespeople

Tuskarr stand below most other humanoids, standing roughly 3 or 4 feet tall. They have the heads—muzzles, tusks, ear, and faces—of walruses, and stout bipedal bodies covered by thick, leathery skin, under which is a thicker layer of blubber. Each of their hands has four thick digits, and their feet are the flat-bottomed, oval-shaped feet.

Gifted fisherman

Tuskarr are tireless, patient fisherman with an unrivaled intuition about their trade, with some more ludicrous stories involving Tuskarr charming dragon turtles to build rafts upon. Although they make nurturing spiritual leaders, their gift for fishing is so ingrained that they are often at a loss when they try to impart that knowledge to others. As such, their large rafts that sail the coasts are usually seen as a food source for rare and plentiful amounts of fish.

Relentlessly Loyal

Tuskarr believe in the value of community and life, and travel often to spend time in the company of others. Some find fulfillment in the cause of order by joining mercenary groups or venture inland to join druidic circles.

Tuskarr believe that the members of a group have a responsibility to look out for each other. Once they have joined a guild or bonded with other individuals in any capacity, Tuskarr devote themselves to maintaining that bond. They coordinate their efforts and are often willing to sacrifice themselves for the sake of the group. They expect reciprocal loyalty and commitment from the other members of their communities and can be severe in their disappointment when their trust is betrayed.
