Homebrew Axolotl Species Details

Axolotl's range from small to medium sized humanoids. As well as their differences in size they are found with many different skin colours, such as pink, gold and black which are more commonly found amongst them whilst other colours such as blue and even a mix of colours like pink and blue are a rarer sight. These amphibious creatures can always be found near lakes and rivers allowing them to keep their skin from drying out. 

Axolotl's grow to be very strong swimmers which is helped by their webbed hands and feet as well as their tail. They tend to hunt underwater, and with their gills, are able to stay under for a long time.

Your Dexterity score increases by 2 and your Charisma score increases by 1.

Age

Axolotls reach adulthood at the age of 15 and can live to the age of 80.

Size

Axolotls can range from 3ft. to 5ft. tall. The variation in height can be the result of environment or genetics.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 25ft., and you have a swimming speed of 35ft..

Darkvision

You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern colour in darkness, only shades of grey.

Amphibious

Axolotl's can breathe both on land and underwater.

Silent Swimmer

When fully submerged under water you have advantage on all Dexterity (Stealth) checks.

Regeneration

If any body parts are cut off, over time your body will grow a new one. However, if a body part is lost to disease it won't grow back unless magic is used to regrow your lost part and the disease is removed.

Different body parts take different amount of time to regrow. The regeneration time can be deceased by the use of the 7th level spell Regenerate. If cast to regrow body parts the user rolls 3d8 to determine how many days the regeneration time is decreased by.
