Homebrew Axolotlborn Species Details

Ability Score Increase

When determining your character’s ability scores, increase one of those scores by 2 or increase two different scores by 1. Follow this rule regardless of the method you use to determine the scores, such as rolling or point buy.

The “Quick Build” section for your character’s class offers suggestions on which scores to increase. You’re free to follow those suggestions or to ignore them. Whichever scores you decide to increase, none of the scores can be raised above 20.

Age

You reach adulthood at around 20, and live up to 100 years old. Your physical appearance remains childlike for the entirety of your life.

Size

Axolotlborn range from under 5 to over 6 feet tall. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet. Axolotlborn excel at swimming and have a speed of 40 feet in the water.

Poison Resistance

Due to their polluted environments, Axolotlborn have advantage on checks made against being poisoned.

Regeneration

The feature of the Axolotlborn that attracts most attention is its healing ability: the Axolotlborn does not heal by scarring and is capable of the regeneration of entire lost appendages in a period of days, and, in certain cases, more vital structures, such as tail, limb, central nervous system, and tissues of the eye and heart. They can even restore less vital parts of their brains. They can also readily accept transplants from other Axolotlborn, including eyes and parts of the brain—restoring these alien organs to full functionality.

You may regrow limbs and non-life threaten injuries at a rate of 1d4 days per limb/injury.

Water Dependency

If you fail to submerge yourself in water for at least 10 minutes during a day, you cannot use the Poison Resistance or Regeneration Traits until you do so again.

Languages

Your character can speak, read, and write Common and one other language that you and your DM agree is appropriate for the character. The Player’s Handbook offers a list of widespread languages to choose from. The DM is free to add or remove languages from that list for a particular campaign.
