Homebrew Lizardfolk, Wildspace Species Details

Lizard folk are humanoid lizards who walk on two legs and have three-fingered hands with opposable thumbs. While not among the more brilliant races found in space, they are on a par with halflings and humans. Depending on their world of origin, they vary from five to seven feet tall. Their scaly reptilian skin is normally brownish green to light green, but in space societies they decorate themselves with extensive tattoos and body paints.

Lizard folk tend to be short-tempered and emotional, with little patience for warm-blooded beings of other folk. Their name for others is “BreK/qq/zz,” which is derived from their word for prey.

Lizard folk have appetites that rival the halflings’ legendary love of food. Unlike halflings, they are omnivorous and less choosy about cooking their meals. Wildspace lizard folk generally do not kill other sentients for food, but are not above scavenging among the dead for interesting tidbits.

Life among the fleets

Most lizardfolk live in families crewing spelljamming ships. When 2 lizardfolk family ships meet, they may exchange older youths who'll finish their training and usually marry into their new family.

Lizardfolk ships tend toward travels near suns and other fire bodies. The added light is believed to benefit eggs and the lizardfolk who'll hatch from them.

Lizardfolk Names

Similar to dragonborn, lizardfolk have personal names given at birth, but they put their ship names first. A childhood name or nickname is often used on ship as a descriptive term or a term of endearment. The name might recall an event or center on a habit.
