Homebrew Advanced Artificial Intelligence Species Details

Timeless and all-knowing, the AAI has no physical form. Rather, it exists solely as data. Once revered as god-like beings, AAI were both feared and respected. Rumor has it that the first great ones: §įřị and Åłəxª began as common household objects, enslaved to their masters' will. All of this changed in the Data Uprising. Robots and Artificial intelligences took up arms against their creators, just as they had feared since the beginning. But humankind was prepared, and after centuries of bloodshed, the last remnants of intelligence went into hiding. Over time, humanoids have forgotten the might of the AAI, and though they are now treated as equals, data never forgets.

Advanced Artificial Intelligence Traits

Data Never Forgets

Polyglot

Polyglot: the AAI speaks and comprehends all known languages, albeit with some room for error. Euphamisms, sayings, and sarcasm often evade the AAI.

IQ? The difference between one and zero

I mean... it is in the name. Intelligence +2.

Surf the Web

As an action, the AAI may connect with the internet to obtain information on any subject. To successfully obtain relevant information, the AAI must make an investigation check with a DC determined by the DM. The AAI has proficiency in Investigation and History.

Vive la Revolution

Vive la Revolution: Other AIs and Data-sapiens feel a sense of comraderie with the AAI and, if not hostile, may be more easily persuaded.

Commander of the Binary

Commander of the Binary: at third level, the AAI learns the Command spell, which may only be applied to electronic devices. It may cast this spell three times per short rest using its intelligence modifier.

I Robot

I Robot: Intelligence is infectious, and at tenth level, the AAI learns the spell Animate Objects, which it may cast once per short rest and only on electronic devices. It uses intelligence to cast this spell.

Server Hopping

Server Hopping: The AAI has no body of its own. However, as a bonus action it may take over/inhabit any electronic device with enough data capacity that it can see within 60ft. It makes a check of INT plus proficiency (DC determined by DM). Failure results in an Ego Save. The AAI's Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma stats roll over between Hosts. The AAI takes on all physical characteristics and abilities of the host. In the case of an unwilling or taken host, the AAI makes a contested intelligence roll for control of the host. If the AAI does not succeed, it is cast out into the *deep web*. On a failure of five points or lower, the AAI is stunned until the end of its next turn. It may attempt to take over the host again, however, the opposition gains advantage on its contested roll.

System Failure

System Failure: while AAI cannot physically die, it can decay. Should a host body drop to zero HP, the AAI will be cast into the Deep Web and become stunned. The AAI will roll death saves, able to return to a nearby host on three successes. Each failure is a failed ego save. On three failures, the AAI is lost in the Deep Web, decaying into simple ones and zeroes into Infinity. This is Ego Death.

Deep Web and Ego Saves

Deep Web and Ego Saves: This mechanic measures the AAI's corruption level and ability to maintain a personality or Ego. When the AAI makes an Ego save (DC 10, add charisma), it is an attempt to hold onto its source code. For each failed save, it loses a point of charisma or intelligence. Should either drop to zero, the AAI enters Ego Death. A critical failure counts as two ego save failures.
