Homebrew Death Runner Species Details

"Death Runners" as they have come to be known, are mortals who have cheated death well after their time should have been up. Whether they outsmarted, overpowered, or simply got lucky when the reaper called, they are now forever on the run from Death itself.

Death Runner Traits

Death may always have it out for them, as well as many clerics and paladins... and most gods... but really, its not ALL that bad.

Hollow Sensation

You've died once, it cant feel much worse. Can it? You cannot feel pain, through magical effects or standard pain. Additionally, once per long rest, if you would fail a constitution saving throw that is not a death save, you may succeed, and take no damage or adverse effects from it.

Broken Body

...I mean you died. You cant get away scott free from that. You are missing a limb, important organ, some kind of sense that affects your roleplay as well as mechanically. Speak with your dungeon master about possible mechanical difficulties, or roll on the major injuries table if you need ideas!

The Void Stared Back

When youve died and seen what your fate is to be... it leaves a permanent mark. You have immunity to all necrotic damage, and vulnerability to radiant damage. Effects that target undead work on you as well.

Ability Score Increase

You may have died, but coming back hardened your bones and flesh to a much better degree. Your Constitution score increases by 2, and your Strength score increases by 1.

Only humanoid

You were once a living humanoid of some kind, and that cant be forgotten due to your form. You retain all the speeds you may have had from your original form, and none of the skills or traits.

I should be dead

Death doesnt take kindly to being cheated, and she is certainly a cruel mistress. You'll return in time, but she will make sure its as soon as possible. You have disadvantage on all death saving throws.
