Homebrew Cleena Species Details

"This fire inside of me is burning me alive. If it does not leave me, I will be nothing but ash. My heart is going to break through my ribs, and my hands are trembling. Whether I want you with my love or my lust, I can not tell."

"Well, my dear boy, why don't we find out together?"

-- The Temptation of Diocenes

Brinlir was one of the first Yendlae created by the gods of creation. She quickly separated herself in both her prowess, intellect, beauty, and her willingness to do whatever it took to get or maintain power.

During the gods war, most Yendlae's took to sides, supporting and fighting on behalf of one of the gods. However, Brinlir chose instead to try to carve for herself her own power and followers. To accomplish this feat, she seduced both the commanders of the two armies (Tarr'naion and Fatruthix). While in her thrall, she was able to siphon substantial power from them both. She utilized this power to create a set of mystical beings known as "Cleena" (The name for Sirens in the Rendering world). She gave them her stunning beauty and manipulative power.

These beings have a high magical prowess, with the ability to manipulate the emotions of people around them. They pull their magic from the magic of others, draining it when the victims magic flares. This usually comes in moments of arousal, love, or passion, but can also be harnessed in moments of fear or hatred. They have the ability to shape shift and perform illusions to help them in their present objective. However, when an individual looks upon their beauty and true form, they almost certainly will fall under their sway.

Cleena choose to keep themselves out of the limelight, but are active in both the 5 Kingdoms and through the Renderland, though there are few of them still in the world. Due to their creation from a Yendlae, they are nearly demigods, and can live for centuries without aging.

Creature of The Divine

Cleena are intrinsically magical beings who were formed by the goddess Brinlir during the Gods War. Infused with magic from Brinlir, and her two lovers- Fatruthix and Tarr'naion- Cleena posses a high aptitude for difficult magics. Due to their magical prowess, they can cast spells from any spellcasting list, as long as they have prepared it. Their magic reflects their physical appearance, imitating the caster by color, shape, and form.

Key of Inhibition

Cleena are immortal beings, as they are formed from the collective strength of three immortal demi-gods. Yet, they achieve their immortality by absorbing the life force of others when it is released. This means that they frequently place individuals in situations where life force flares within them. Most notably: passion, lust, attraction, hatred, and fear. If a Cleena goes too long without extracting life force through one of those emotions, they will begin to age. Given their immortality, Cleena do not experience things like mere mortals do. The pleasures of sex, drinking, or passion, hold little sway over them (though they may enjoy them) but they are frequently viewed as avenues by which to accomplish their personal objections. A Cleena understands the mortal heart and mind, having good sway over it. The "Key of Inhibition" allows a Cleena to examine a persons most exploitable weakness with a simple kiss. With a kiss on the head, hand, or cheek, a Cleena is able to deduce all there is to know about a persons desires.

Adept Landfall

Though Cleena are aquatic in nature, and have characteristics that display that (webbed hands, a long tail, etc.), they are capable of moving on the land by means of transfiguration. As a racial ability, Cleena can freely transition their tail to legs when they enter into land. However, they do have re-enter water every 12 hours, or they risk experiencing a draining in their magic, and physical strain. This is commonly why Cleena are seen on coastlands, or inhabiting coastal cities.

There is nothing more dreadful and more beautiful...

Cleena Names

Cleena are not given names at birth, as is common with most other races. In the Cleena culture, a name is bestowed upon someone by their clan when they have achieved their first "hunt." Their names are words from "Brinlir," that is a language exclusive for the Yendlae Brinlir and her progeny.

After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.
