Homebrew Vulcanian Species Details

Vulcanians are a rare occurrence and usually bring either extremely good or absolutely terrible omens. They say their very existence is both a blessing from the god's but also a curse due to their strange natures. They are often confused as some sort of weird combination of dragonborn and wolf, dawning the draconic features yet being completely covered in fur. Having a set of wolf ears and carrying two tails between their legs, these creatures are often hunted and on the brink of extinction. These creatures are curious by nature, but their hunted status forbids them from mingling in the worlds affairs. With no actual home they are scattered across the world, most of the times by themselves. 

Without an actual home the Vulcanians roam the lands remaining hidden and avoiding big cities. While cloaked they may help a small town doing small chores or getting rid of a monster and during this they will never reveal there true identity. They often travel alone and almost never meet their brethren in their entire lifetime. During these times they try to ensure themselves by aiding travelers in hopes of finding a group who will accompany them. Most Vulcanian know however this is a lost cause, as their used often for enslavement. Due to this, they often hide their real names to those they meet and change it quiet frequently in order to not be remembered.

They don't like to mingle in others affairs unless it's for their own survival, but sometimes their nature gets the better of them. You can use the following tables to customize your character in addition to the trait, ideal, bond, and flaw from your background.

Ability Score Increase

You Constitution increases by 2, and your Charisma increases by 1.

Age

Vulcanians reach physical maturity at about the same age as humans and can live up to 800 years.

Alignment

Vulcanian love freedom, variety, and self-expression, so they lean strongly toward the gentler aspects of chaos. They value and protect others’ freedom as well as their own, and they are more often good than not. Most of them try to do good, but they are easily persuaded by evil forces.

Size

Due to their strange eating habits, most Vulcanians are taller and heavier than humans, standing well over 6 feet tall and averaging almost 250 pounds. Although the smallest they could ever be is about 5 feet tall. Your size is medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 35 feet.

Darkvision

Accustomed to twilit forests and the night sky, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Keen Senses

You have proficiency in the Perception skill.

Natural Mender

The supernatural saliva of a Vulcanian cures wounds. The targeted creature heals for 1d8 and this feature increases by one at 6th level  (two Hit Dice), 11th (three Hit Dice), and at 16th (four Hit Dice). You may use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, recovers after every long rest.

Claws

You are proficient with your unarmed strikes, which deal 1d4 slashing damage on a hit.

Nimble Body

When a creature makes an attack roll targeted towards you, you can use your reaction to move 10ft to try and avoid the attack, You may only do this once per short rest.

Languages

You can read, speak, and write Common Draconic, and Sylvan.
