Homebrew Cordyspus Species Details

The sentient fungus grows. It attempts to find sustenance to fuel itself, devouring anything organic. This desire can be repressed, however it can’t be for too long.

Cordyspus Traits

You are a fungus, and are capable of many things other creatures mind find disturbing.

Sticky body

Climbing leaves your hands available and can be done across vertical surfaces and upside down.

Fluffy exterior

When you integrate into a new body, your true body grows over the armor and held items of the body. giving you a constant natural armor of 13 + Con.

Sporadic radius

You can psychically communicate with any creatures within a 60 foot radius. They do not have to share or understand any languages, but must be able capable of complex thought. If they leave this circle, you can still communicate with them as long as they’re within 200 feet for one hour. This is halved if they have a resistance or immunity to disease. You also have a blindsight of 60 feet, and cannot see outside of this radius.

Mycelium longevity

You do not need to breathe or sleep. However you must eat organic material and drink water frequently. You are capable of breaking down any organic matter given a short time, and anything organic is edible. Age changing effects do not effect you.

Fungal infection

Requires contact, Con save DC 12 + Con. On fail, deal 1d4 + Con poison damage, subtract amount of damage from targets next roll. On target success, nothing happens and the target is immune to this ability for 24 hours. This does not work on targets immune to diseases, and resistance to diseases grants advantage against this. If the target passes the save, a usage of this ability is not used. If the target dies to the attack, you may integrate yourself into their body without an action. Usages are equal to your proficiency bonus. Resets on long rest

Integration

The creature cannot be a construct, and if it is an undead, it cannot have higher than 8 Int or be controlled. An undead must make a wisdom saving throw with a DC equal to 8 + Con to avoid being controlled. If they fail this save, they must make a melee attack against a target chosen by the player in range before moving until they save or you voluntarily let go. The target may repeat the save on subsequent turns to end this effect. You are imbedded into their body, so you move with them. Once the effect is ended, you are shunted 5 feet away from the target. You suffer no damage from dislodging. The target must be at max a size larger than you. You retain your stats and do not gain the abilities of the target. You can mimic their voice and appearance at disadvantage, as your movements seem unnatural and jerky. This ability fails if a corpse is over 10 days old. The DM may give vague information on the memories or outlook of the corpse at their discretion.

Planted roots

you do not not sleep and cannot be put to sleep magically. You can plant yourself in place and take a 4 hour rest, where you are completely conscious but immobile. This gives the same benefit of a normal 8 hour long rest.
