Homebrew Axolotl Race Species Details

A simple, aquatic race, the Axolotl Kin are decendants of a great sea-dragon, from whose bones created a huge underwater civilization. They are a very peaceful and pacifistic race who love their ancestors and each other. At least, that's what people think. While they are very peaceful and some are pacifistic, they have a real problem: the long-standing hierarchy that constantly splits them apart.

AXOLOTL KINGDOM

At the head of the Dragon's skeleton lives the King and his family, the neck the nobility and veterans' families, and in the rib cage lives the farmers and miners working in the talons and claws. But the tail is reserved for the poor and slaves.

AXOLOTL ABILITIES

All Axolotls have an innate ability to breathe underwater, and even the slowest can boast being a strong swimmer, despite their small stature. Also, any Axolotl can regrow limbs faster than the average race, ecen fully regrowing limbs after a certain amount of time, depending on the damage.

LATER IN AN AXOLOTL'S LIFE

As an Axolotl starts to get around their late thirties, they start rapidly aging and growing. They may even grow into about a Human's size at around forty. But, not only do their bodies change once they hit this age, but they're abilities will start getting less effective. They still stay strong swimmers, but their regrowth of limbs starts to deteriorate and eventually loses its function. This may result in elderly Axolotls start to earn permanent scars, or even lost limbs if they have fought in this age.

Your Axolotl has a range of abilities that any other of the race has.

Ability Score Increase

Your Cahrisma score increases by 2, and your Dexterity score increases by 1.

Age

An Axolotl reaches adulthood at the age of 16 and generally lives into the middle of his or her 40s.

Strong Swimmer

While you are underwater, you may dash as a bonus action instead of an action as long as you move through water.

Water Breathing

Your character can breathe underwater.

Limb Regrowth

You can regenerate lost limbs after a period of time determined by your GM.

Size

Axolotls average about 4 feet tall and weigh about 50-60 pounds. Your size is Small.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 25 feet.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Aquatic. Axolotks use the Aquatic language to communicate underwater through a series of clicking and whistling. It sounds like a beautiful song to others who do not understand. A "song being sung" between two Axolotls is really just a conversation.
