Homebrew Ceti Species Details

Hailing from the elemental plane of water, the origins of the Ceti are shrouded in mystery, some sages say that they're creations abandoned by Annam. When they were cast out of his palace they were picked up by a powerful Djinni prince. He managed to embue it with the power of water, and the soul of a whale. And that is where the first Ceti was created. Others claim that a mad sorceress tried to polymorph a whale into a human. When her innate magic failed, the spell did too and created a Ceti.

Ceti are known to be kind creatures that deeply favor beaches and other locations near water so that they can return home to their ancestral homes swiftly if the need or desire arises. Legens speak of Ceti being able to lift mountains to create caverns the size of giants' palaces. They use their innate strength to fuel their inner passions, some being gentle giants with artistic tendencies. Others to defeat blue dragons, and free villages from tyranny.

If you take more damage than half your current hp in a single turn, you spit the target back out. You can only use this a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus until you replenish it with a short or long rest. If the target dies when swallowed they will not be digested unless in there for one day and must be spat back out.

If you're not grappling a creature you're able to make a regular bite attack as an action, dealing 1d4 piercing damage on a hit.

Languages

You speak Common and one other language of your choice. You communicate with other Ceti and whales through high pitch sounds like groans, whistles, clicks and squeals. This is difficult for most other races to understand and impossible to replicate.
