Homebrew Black orc Species Details

“they lead me into their den, the bones of almost every race I’d ever seen all sprawled out around me. They threw me onto the ground, orcs all around me. I tried to remain calm as they began to close in, but the panic overtook me as a roar from deep in the cave rang out. The orcs all parted, like meek halflings politely stepping aside for a human. A orc that towered them walked through the sea of light green, his skin a deep green like burnt moss. His tusk must have been 7inchs, golden caps on them to stop them from cutting his own head. I frantically called to my patron, needing some sort of response, an extra spell for the day, some sort of saving. He looked down at me and smiled, “hello, little one. Tell me, do you think your patron can hear you here?”  -Malice Jouice. 

Tough love

black orcs are extremely defensive of anyone they consider kin. Living in tribes of 10-80, young are raised to be warriors, brutal and defensive putting only their kin above themselves. treating any outsiders as enemies until proven otherwise, they are incredibly difficult to befriend due to their natural distrusting nature. Children are raised harsh to prepare them for the world. kindness is the enemy’s weapon, Do not believe their deceitful words.

Age

Black orcs differ from the other races as they don't have a set age for maturity culturally speaking, and biology wise can keep growing in size in the right conditions. The oldest of their kind are hulking brutes able to headbutt creatures many times their size into submission. Most die in battle but your genetics are still similar to your lesser kin, you live up to 50 years.

The Mark of Gruumsh

The one-eyed god Gruumsh—lord of war and fury—created the first orcs, and even those orcs who turn away from his worship carry his blessings of might and endurance. The same is true of Black orcs. Some Black orcs hear the whispers of Gruumsh in their dreams, calling them to unleash the rage that has been selectively breed to be stronger in them. Others feel Gruumsh’s exultation when they join in melee combat — and either exult along with him or shiver with fear and loathing.

Beyond the rage of Gruumsh, Black orcs feel emotion much more powerfully than their smaller kin. Rage doesn’t just quicken their pulse, it makes their bodies burn and brain shift to pure instinct. An insult stings like acid, and sadness saps their strength. But they laugh loudly and heartily, and simple pleasures — feasting, drinking, wrestling, drumming, and wild dancing — fill their hearts with joy. They tend to be short-tempered and defensive, a deep instinct in them from their time as slaves causes them to be enraged at the idea of losing any form of free will. They suppress their positive emotions due to this instinct of self protection. but when a Black Orc bounds with you, you become tribal kin. they will protect, love, and fight for you with a intensity greater then most creatures can feel. 

Black Orc Names

Black Orcs are not given names at birth, rather they must earn them through combat or skill. Some black Orc’s never receive names, only being called “child of-“, “kin”, or in disrespectful terms, “little one”. Their names are usually reflective of their talents as a result of receiving them at a older age.

 

Black orc Traits

Your black orc character has certain traits seen as intimidating or brutish.

Ability Score Increase

Your Strength score increases by 2, and your Constitution score increases by 1.

Age

Size

 

Black orcs tower over even their larger kin. they stand normally between 7-9 ft tall and weigh between 280 and 400 pounds. Your size is large or medium 

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvision

Thanks to your orc blood, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Menacing

You gain proficiency in the Intimidation skill.

Relentless Endurance

When you are reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, you can drop to 1 hit point instead. You can’t use this feature again until you finish a long rest.

Savage Attacks

When you score a critical hit with a melee weapon attack, you can roll one of the weapon’s damage dice one additional time and add it to the extra damage of the critical hit.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Orc. Orc is a harsh, grating language with hard consonants. It has no script of its own but is written in the Dwarvish script.
