Homebrew Avian Species Details
Decendents from the ancient race of the Aarakocra, Avian's have become sort of... normal. No longer a hushed wisper, or a rumored sighting. Height generally between 4' and 5'5.
Some of the braver taking up roles of adventure, others, more pitiful, taking up the regular job of mailman.
Much more like the human counterparts they often find themselves around, the Avians' wings have deteriorated to the point where they can barely fly completely on their own. While they can still glide, and use their wings to travel further, they cannot fully support themselves for long periods of time. Becuase of this, they have adapted. They learned how to run, using their hollow bones, and andling their wings to be able to move alongside the air currents. Using this technique, a properly trained Avian is able to run at speeds of over 80km/ph
Their wings are very trust related things, generally only the closest of people can touch them. eg, family, partners, incredibly close friends. Will generally only clean their wings in private areas, because it leaves them vunerable to attacks.
Would rather die that swim. Hate water, makes their wings soggy and their clothes heavy. Hates the rain as well, makes twigs and stuff get stuck between their feathers. It really irritates them when things get suck between their feathers, they hate water and sand for that reason. gets really overstimulating at a certain point.
