Homebrew Archaeopteran Species Details

Archaeopterans are a small clade of ancient, birdlike humanoids native to a small group of sky islands located far above an unknown sea. They are closely related to Raptorans, as they share a common ancestor, but the Archeopteran's isolated home caused them to remain relatively the same, while their Raptoran cousins evolved on the mainland. Though their appearance is seemingly the same as Raptorans, they have some reptilian features, such as scales and scythe-like claws. Archaeopterans also have larger wings and slightly longer tails, with more slim bodies suited for hunting on the ocean. However, their fragile physiques make them terrible swimmers, so contact with water can be fatal. Their society is virtually the same as that of Raptorans, with only subtle differences in their courting behavior. Not much is known about the mysterious race, as they are hardly seen on the mainland and often mistaken for Raptorans.

Acrhaeopterans are very keen on attention and love to be in the spotlight, a habit derived from their unusual courting behavior. In certain situations, they may find their enchanting aura extremely useful for getting advice. When in a  VERY desperate situation, members of this race get a +2 modifier to their charisma, and intoxicate their enemy with lust.

Suicidal Screech

Archaeopterans are very vocal creatures, capable of being painfully loud, as you might learn from conversating with one. When a member of this race is nearly killed, it may let out a horribly loud screech that takes 2 HP off from all surrounding entities and causes the member itself to faint.
