Homebrew Stickman Species Details

In all my time traveling through the world, I only encountered an example of this race, which left me mostly confused and intrigued. He didn’t seem to differ much from humans, as he looked just like one, but I could swear that I saw him having the appearance of a hand drawn stickman once.

He seemed like a very friendly person, with a high desire for adventure and fighting. I tried to ask for details about his stickman race, but he didn’t elaborate, saying that the information he has can be unreliable. I’m still questioning if this encounter was a dream or not, as I never got to meet him again.

No one knows when or how stickmen came into existence, as they are beings surrounded by mystery. It is rare to encounter civilizations of stickmen, since they do not have the desire to stay in one place for too long. There are many theories created about them, some believing that stickmen came from a different realm and are only visiting this one in search of adventure and discovery. But one thing is certain about stickmen: they are always passionate about whatever they believe in.

Strange Appearances

Stickmen can vary greatly in appearance. Some people have seen them looking like classic stickmen you would see in drawings, others have seen them looking like stickmen with human features (having eyes, mouth, hair or even clothes), and others have seen them as normal looking humans. Since there are people who have seen a stickman alternating between these looks, it is uncertain if their appearances are caused by the people’s perception of them, or if they are able to change their looks themselves. Their skin color can also vary greatly from human skin tones to any color.

Most of the stickmen are tall, being around 6 feet or even higher, but they tend to weigh less than 125 pounds. However, this does not necessarily affect their human looks, which brings more questions about what is their true appearance.

Their age is also a mystery, as they seem to either age normally, or stop aging at a certain point. Some stickmen are able to tell their exact age, while others either specify an age period or do not give any answer.

Freedom and Determination

Many stickmen hold great value in freedom and adventure, which is a reason why it is rare to find villages of them. That does not mean there are not any structures built by stickmen though. On the contrary, you can find many abandoned colosseums, stone structures and even houses made to last with unique architecture.

That is because most stickmen have the desire to leave a mark wherever they go, being a small or a big one. Maybe some stickmen did actually want to settle in a place, but they eventually left because of their free spirited nature or personal goals.

This brings another characteristic about them: they always seem to be determined by something, being a mission or purpose. They are constantly active and focused on a goal, and that goal can vary from defeating a rival to having an occupation. The few times a stickman settles in a place are when it does not clash with their objective, or it even helps with achieving it.

FRIEND OR FOE

Stickmen have inconsistent relationships with other races, since most of them do not care about ethnicities or looks. On the other hand, other races have conflicted opinions on them, where they either see stickmen as friendly people, or they see them as trouble because of their extreme traits or desire for fights.

Resolving Conflicts Through Fighting

Stickmen’s culture differs with each civilization, but it seems to be one constant, which is fighting. Many of them love to fight, and they see it as a form of expression and entertainment, which is why it is so common to find fighting areas in their villages.

It is not hard for them to find a reason to fight, which can vary from personal or non-personal ones. Some of them even resolve conflict by fighting each other, and the winner gets respect and appreciation from the one defeated. There are rare cases of stickmen holding grudges to the ones they lose to, as they seem to not put too much thought into it.

Maybe their fighting nature is the reason why they are more agile and resistant than other races, since they constantly search for duels and ways to prove their strength and skills.

A Variety of Abilities

Many stickmen seem to possess a special power, which can vary from an advanced skill, to a magic ability that is unique to them. There is no pattern to this characteristic, and their power can be something that no other race has.

Some people have theorized that stickmen developed their own special ability in order to have an advantage in fighting each other, and others think that they are in contact with a unique divinity who grants them power.

Either way, their personal ability can vary from being very powerful, to not being that powerful at all. It also seems that there are some stickmen who do not possess a special ability, although these cases are fairly rare.

Stickman Names

Just like with their powers, there seems to be no pattern with the way stickmen are named. There can be stickmen with names that are common with other races, but many of them are called unusual names like “Bob” or “Dave”.

However, there is a considerable amount of stickmen that have names related with objects, occupations or their special ability. Maybe they changed their name into those titles, or their parents had a purpose in mind when they gave them such names. Either way, stickmen do not follow a system or a rule, and having a family name is rare for a stickman.
