Homebrew Cloudborn Species Details

Appearance

Their body is sort of like a balloon filled with air, but because of the nature of their physiognomy, they cannot shapeshift in any fashion, and are human in form. Their skin is blue or gray with clouds moving across them in a constantly changing pattern. When not concentrating, youth have bright blue skin with white clouds, and as Cloudborn get older, they move to more concentrated white and then grey thunderstorms of old age. When they concentrate, they can change their appearance to any sky-like pattern and can create cloud images on their skin. When injured, they do not bleed, but rather expel gray gas. When they pass away, their corpse most closely resembles a gray deflated balloon.

Born in the Clouds

Cloudborn have one foot in the elemental plane of air. Most of them live there, but a small few have been known to migrate to the prime material plane. They have a natural flight ability, and prefer to live in very high locations, like mountain tops or cloud giant castles.

Capricious and Free

Cloudborn naturally lean toward Chaotic in nature. They naturally hate anything that impedes their freedom. They love to explore and love new experiences and adventures. They are generally good, and despise all things evil that include imprisonment, bondage or servitude, as this is the antithesis of their free-going nature. However they are quick to anger, and can have unpredictable moods.
