Homebrew Astralgeonianinite Species Details
Out of the Nothing
Floating through the endless expanse that is the astral plane, there floats an endless amount of discarded material. The lies millennia's worth of junk from unthoughtful travelers, decades worth of remaining wreckage from the endless onslaught of battle, infinite amounts of loose items, all floating throughout the abyss. This endless spew of matter, over the time of an eternity, has slowly coalesced, slowly but surely compacting, mixing, and warping to the environment of the astral realm until finally, it formed into life itself. This amorphous, slimy lifeform then begins to carry out its one purpose: To find a suitable host for itself and to become Astralgeonianinite. This process can take decades to finish, but once the lifeform finds a fitting host, such as a suit of armor, it binds itself to the item, infusing its presence into the item and becoming one with the object.
Of Metal and Muck
An Astralgeonianinite, or an Astralgeo for short, is, at its core, truly living animated armor. The slimy main body of an Astralgeo is perfectly linked into its item of choice, permeating every nook and cranny of the object, become near impossible to remove from the armor. Once bonded with a piece of armor, the Astralgeo takes on a humanoid form, taking on a thick, almost stick-figure-esque shape. This slimey portion of the Astralgeo is always some variation of an opaque, purple color, though the exact shade has been seen to vary. This slime has a very high surface tension, meaning it is not the type of slime to drip or to trail more slime behind itself. However, despite the high surface tension, the slime is still incredibly sticky, capable of holding back a full orc's worth of force. If needed, an Astralgeo is capable of reducing the surface tension of its body, not causing the slime to leak, but still allowing food to enter into the Astralgeo for consumption.
The armor of an Astralgeo is nonmagical in nature, serving as a purely an anchor for the Astralgeo to keep it in the material plane. If one somehow managed to remove it from its armor, an act know as being nigh impossible, the Astralgeo will lose its humanoid form, dissolving into nothingness as it returns to the astral plane, leaving a small, golf ball sized pearl. If this pearl is place in another set of armor, the Astralgeo may choose to instantly reform into that set of armor.
Magically Functional
An Astralgeo can only function because an innate and powerful magic. How do Astralgeo see? They see just like humans, just their eyes are magical, as in they really don't really have eyes, they just have the magical ability to see. The same is true for how they talk, how they process energy, how they feel objects, and for how they listen to things. An Astralgeo cannot smell, mainly because an Astralgeo does not need to breathe.
Due to the strength of these vital magics, these magic cannot be countered by any form of dispel magic or anti-magic field unless the spell dispelling the magic is cast at 9th level. If they are hit by such a spell, they lose all functioning mentioned above. They can regain this functionality by simply getting hit with another spell quick enough.
Eternal Perspective
Due to their inability to die of old age, an Astralgeo will typically be a much slower going, methodical type of person. If they are younger than several hundred years old, they can be quite volatile, hot-headed, and chaotic. Due to their endless age, the Astralgeo often end up gathering an exuberant amount of knowledge. However, due to their liquidlike nature, they can often mix up and muddle ideas, making them quite unreliable when it comes to asking them for information.
Astralgeonianinite Traits
Astralgeo are a very unique race with these particular traits.Armored Body
You naturally have a plus 2 to your armor class due to the armor you are burrowed into. However, due to your stickiness, you can not benefit from dexterity when factoring your armor class. As well as that, by default the Astralgeonianinite cannot wear extra armor.
Sticky Grappling
You get advantage when grappling others and keeping them in a grapple due to your stickiness. Due to your composition, the grappled creature is unable to use strength to get out of the grapple. However! You have disadvantage avoiding and escaping a grapple, and you must use strength to get out of it.
Incorporate Weapons
Due to the composition of your slimy body, you can merge yourself with a weapon. You add one weapon to yourself every long rest. If you add a weapon, its weight is halved, it gets plus 5 ft. of reach and can now have, once per short rest, an added 1d4 acid damage to the damage roll. If you try to take this weapon out of yourself, an action you can do an unlimited amount of times, roll a d20. On a roll of 5 or less, the weapon comes out damaged, cannot be reabsorbed, and its damage stat becomes 1d4. There are limits to this ability. You can only absorb up to 4 items at a time, and magic items are unable to be absorbed. Finally, you can only do this once per short rest, not once per weapon.
Needle-Phobia
When taking piercing damage, roll a d20. On a 1, you are instantly down and need to roll death saves. You have one success by default.
Inanimate Slumber
When sleeping, you lose most of your slimy body, save for a thin strand of light purple slime connecting up all of the armor. This is because the slime body is now inside the armor. When resting like this, you cannot react, gain disadvantage on all action, and lose perception. When you wake up, you are instantly ejected from the armor. The check to see this slime strand is by default a DC 15 perception check.
Age
Due to their astral nature, when they form, they are instantly considered mature, and they are unable to die of old age. They do not deteriorate over time.
Ability Score Increase
You get a plus two to dexterity and a plus one to strength

You can speak, read, and write Common as well as Primordial.
