Homebrew Australian Species Details
Often with golden hair and rippling muscles, the members of this race are accustomed to harsh climates and the beasts that live amongst them.
Australian Traits
A hardy race that are accustomed to living among monsters.Animal expertise
Australians have proficiency in the animal handling skill and can cast animal friendship at second level, once per short rest.
Wilderness expert
Australian's have proficiency in the Nature and Survival skills, and have advantage on Nature and Survival checks pertaining to creatures. e.g. tracking, creature knowledge, etc.
That's not a knife...
Starting at 3rd level, when an enemy makes a melee attack against you, with a weapon smaller than your own, you can use a reaction to attempt to frighten the attacker. The attacker must make a Wisdom Saving Throw (DC12) or be frightened for 2 turns. This can be done a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus.
Starting at 8th level you can add half your proficiency bonus(rounded down) to the save DC of this feature

Starting at 5th level, when making a weapon attack against an enemy that is frightened, using your "That's not a knife..." feature, you can add an extra 1d4 to your damage roll. The damage type counts as the same base damage type that your weapon deals. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus.
Hardy build
Your Constitution score is increased by 2 and your Strength score is increased by 1.
Age
Australians reach adulthood in their late teens and live less than a century, when not killed by the monsters that roam their lands.
Size
Australians vary widely in height and build, from barely 5 feet to well over 6 feet tall. Regardless of your position in that range, your size is Medium.
Speed
Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Languages
You can speak, read, and write Common and one extra language of your choice. Australians typically learn the languages of other peoples they deal with, including obscure dialects. They are fond of sprinkling their speech with words borrowed from other tongues: Orc curses, Elvish musical expressions, Dwarvish military phrases, and so on.

Posted Sep 15, 2023The descriptions for "That's not a knife..." and "This is a knife..." are meant to specify that charges reset after a long rest. Mechanically, the functions are correct, but the descriptions are off in that way.
