Homebrew Dilthen Miog (Munchkin FeliFolk) Species Details
It's simple really. It started with a drink and then things just Spiraled from there. In the end, I'm not a very important character. I'm just a FeliFolk who made a deal, and that deal all started with a simple drink.
…Shall we begin?
The inebriated FeliFolk tossed their cards on the table and peered out from the shadows of their cloak. Their eyes were blurry and their breath reeked of ale and food. "Your hand," they slurred. "If I win, you gotta honor our deal."
The Melg’Di’ryl floated as if it were a leaf on the surface of a lake. It smacked its lips, its many eyes staring at the person across the table as it revealed its losing hand. The FeliFolk smiled in the candlelight and nodded. "Of course," they said. "And I've lost to you before. I'll make it so." The Melg’Di’ryl watched the cat closely, examining every little movement. The cat was calm and collected despite its disheveled state, but the Melg’Di’ry could tell it was also excited. The Melg’Di’ry knew this would be a close game.
life would be changing if they won this game. If The FeliFolk won, they would be granted the full gambit of power for 24 hours. That is if they won. It was too good to pass up, they had to cheat, so he did as such and double crossed the deal by cheating this being of power.
In fact it was a stupidly dangerous game. The thought weaseled into the Felifolks head and spread like a fog invading every part, and if they lost, they would be punished severely and end up being a housecat permanently. The FeliFolk knew that they had to win, so they cheated. They used their crafty paws to shift the game in their favor to win.
And like that time passed
The Melg’Di’ryl floated up to the FeliFolk's estate and peered in through the window. Then it floated inside passing through the wall with a mild Oscillation. "I hope you enjoyed your time as a powerful being," it said.
The FeliFolk turned around, startled. Its fur stood on end. "Of… of…” They stammered briefly. “ Of course not," it said, pausing before going on. "I just wanted to make sure my family was well off."
The Melg’Di’ryl looked around the room, its tentacles making sweeping motions as it observed the room glancing at the burdensome treasures; then focused on the cat. "It's a pity you cheated," it said. "I would have loved for our friendship to go on as it was."
The FeliFolk took a step back, aware of the danger it was in. "I never abused anything," it proclaimed.
The Melg’Di’ryl cut off the Felifolk before they could continue, they rumbled the room with anger and Focused on the cat.
It was really at that moment it all became a snowstorm of events.
The FeliFolk awoke, things a slight blur at first as it stood up and walked across the room. “I must have passed out.” It looked up at the desk wondering why it was so big. It looked down; its clothes were like a tent. Climbing was easier with claws as it made its way up. The fur on its body stood on end as it saw a note. “Your lies will now set you on a path, this is your burden for your entire lineage.”
The FeliFolk read the note again, trying to make sense of it. What did it mean? What lies had it told? And why was this its burden? I need to remember. Or not.
In the end; the feliFolk didn't know the answers to these questions, but it knew that it had to find out. It had to find out what it had done wrong, and how to make things right.
The FeliFolk started to climb down from the desk, but then it stopped. It looked back at the note. There was something else written on it, in small letters at the bottom.
“The path will be difficult, but you must persevere. The fate of your lineage depends on it.”
The FeliFolk took a deep breath and started to climb down again. It knew that the path ahead would be difficult, but it was determined to find out the truth and make things right. That is if they remember the note.
As the story goes, unknown author.
The Dilthen are a strange variation of the FeliFolk of the world; they seek adventure and not to be stationary until they have their fill of an unconstrained horizon. Often seen out in the wilds and a part of an adventuring group seeking what drives them full of life and joy. They are also naturals to tell the stories of their adventures within taverns and campfires.
A horizon of adventure:
Dilthen’s eyes shine with their sense of life and adventure, as does their contagious smile. They are a slightly stocky version of their larger cousins standing 2 to 3 feet tall at the most. They weigh usually 35 to 45 pounds depending on their inherent traits. Speaking of that they also come in a rainbow of configurations much like any Felifolk of the realms.
The personality of Dilthen’s is a strange one for a cat, they are naturally adventurous and often leave home early in life to strike it out on their own and to seek their story. The only issue is this often leads to a lot of them dying before their prime. It is very hard to determine their overall expected life expectancy due to early deaths due to adventuring. Despite that they are happy to trade stories and lighten up moods with their humor; the humor usually is inline with what they have chosen to do.
Home is where the adventure is!
Dilthen’s don’t usually have a home to call their own, their home is the group they are with, and where they are at that time during adventure. However If one finds their story and, and! They do manage to settle down, usually along busy streets within large cities. Despite being retired they still love to exchange stories and cater to other adventurers. As for their culture it tends to vary between Dilthen as it's shaped by who they adventure with.
Loyalty is as far as your families!
Dilthen’s are loyal to their natural family and their adventure party and will go to the ends of the horizon to protect them, either with a blade or words. They are generally not hostile unless cornered, or their family is hurt or slandered. The biggest part of a Dilthen’s life is determining their adventure party and who to trust, and once it's set, it's forever. They are known to be tremendously good judges of character.
What is a Deity to you?
While they are overly supernatural, they do believe in those above all. They understand Deity’s and their place within the world much like their own. There are several they tend to follow, and those all focus on adventure. However there are two specific Deity’s they favor most of all. Sve'pi also known as the god of clouds or sky cat or Elbyis Hyme the Abyssal cat. They seek guidance from their friends and the Deity’s when at a crossroads or in a state of doubt or even with a moment of cheer.
I’m going to name you…
Dilthen’s names shouldn't surprise people but they often do. Their names are universal and very straightforward. They tend to simply name their children after items of adventure at the time of their birth, or clues to a hidden treasure, or even just simple objects.
