Homebrew Alatus Species Details
Descended directly from birds and humans, Alatus are an ancient people, existing prior to the Balance. Their legacy since the Balance has dwindled, now leaving them scattered across the nations of Ivriria.
The Alatus people are split into three main groups, each related to their specific avian ancestors. There are the Corvus, from Ravens, Noctuans, from Owls and the Psittacus, from Parrots.
Their appearance varies, depending on their subrace but they all share these similar features. They have bird-like wings attached to a tall, slender, human-like frame.
Alatus Traits
As an Alatus, your avian ancestry adds a few additional abilities and attributesAbility Score Increase
When determining your character’s ability scores, increase one score by 2 and increase a different score by 1, or increase three different scores by 1. You can't raise any of your scores above 20.

You have a walking speed of 30 feet.
Alatusian Wings
You have a set of wings that share resemblance to your avian ancestry derived from your subrace. These wings give you a flying speed equal to your walking speed. If you are wearing heavy armor, or are heavily encumbered, your flying speed is reduced by half.
Brittle Bones
You have vulnerability to bludgeoning damage.
Corvus
Corvus Alatus' are directly descended from the ravens. Making up the intelligent third of the Alatus, Corvus embody the wit and canniness of their ancestry.
Corvus have sharper facial features than the other Alatus. They have dark eyes, usually in blacks, greys and sometimes silver. Their hair is generally darker shades as well.
Uncanny Memory
You have proficiency in the History skill. You add double your proficiency on checks to recall faces and people or conversation.
Calculated Strike
You can use your bonus action to perfectly prepare your next attack. The next attack you make before the beginning of your next turn adds your intelligence modifier to the attack or damage rolls (your choice) but you must choose before you roll.
Noctua
Noctuan Alatus' are directly descended from the owls. Making up the wise third of the Alatus, Noctuans embody the insight and wisdom of their ancestry.
Noctuans look stronger and more built. Their eyes tend to be more yellow and orange, but have been known to be darker, or sometimes even black. Their hair colour varies drastically considering where they are from. It can range from browns and tans to whites and greys and more.
Insightful Demeanor
You gain proficiency in the Insight skill. You double your proficiency bonus on checks to find hidden creatures or to discern a persons true intentions.
Watchful Eyes
You have Truesight out to a range of 30 feet.
Psittacus
Psittacus Alatus' are directly descended from the parrots. Making up the charasmatic third of the Alatus, Psittacus embody the cunning and entertaining nature of their ancestry.
Psittacus are more attractive than other Alatus, with symmetrical facial features and mesmerizing eyes. The eyes are usually a whole explosion of colours, including greens, blues, pinks, browns and reds all in one eye. their hair matches their wings for the most part, making for even more color and alluring beauty.
Alluring Stage Presence
You gain proficiency in the Performance skill. You add double your proficiency bonus to any checks to mock or imitate speech and to keep an audiences attention.
A Parrot's Charm
If you spend 1 minute talking to someone who can understand what you say, you can make a Charisma (Performance) check contested by the creature's Wisdom (Insight) check. If you or your companions are fighting the creature, or if it is hostile towards you, your check automatically fails. If your check succeeds, the target is charmed by you as long as it remains within 60 feet of you and for 1 minute thereafter.
