Homebrew Yautja Species Details

The Hunt is all we know. It is in our blood. With spear and blade we slay the strongest, smartest, or craftiest. All to take a trophy and gain respect for ourselves and our clan.

Prideful and Strong

Yautja exhibit a blend of characteristics. Their skin color ranging from bright and dull yellow, light brown, to a desaturated blue. Their dreadlocks start a dark color but can become grey or dull over time if a Yautja manages to live that long. Their strength and hunting prowess only matched by their size.

The Yautja train at a young age to fight with the largest and strongest creatures. If they survive they will rise in rank. From Unblooded, to Blooded, to Elite, to even a Clan Leader.

Honor Code

The Yautja are brutal during their hunts but they do it with a code. Anyone who cannot defend themselves or is pregnant is unfair game. If a target demands melee combat, they must abide by their opponent's rules. These rules however do not make them stupid. If attacked, the hunter has a right to defend themselves. This is merely to ensure that each trophy is earned rightly for without these rules, they would be nothing more than barbarians. Savages that kill for the sake of killing, not for honor, not for glory, but to sate their blood thirst. That is why badbloods are a stain that must be stomped out wherever they are found.

Yautja Names

Yautja are known to have two names. A name given to them in their language by their parents or an Elder. While the other is more a nickname, denoting something about the particular Yautja. A favored weapon, quirk, or mask design.

Yautja Traits

Your Yautja character has certain traits deriving from your ancestry.

Yautja Weapon Training

You are proficient with the longbow, club/great club, shortsword, spear.

Natural Hunter

You gain proficiency with two of the following skills of your choice: Acrobatics, Athletics, Perception, Stealth, and Survival.

Ability Score Increase

Your Constitution score increases by 2.

Age

Maturity seems to occur within two centuries, after which Yautja can seemingly live for hundreds to thousands of years. Maximum lifespan is unknown.

Size

Yautja are considerably larger than nearly any race, standing between 7' and 8' feet tall and weighing in the area of 400 lbs. Your size is medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 40 feet.

Darkvision

Thanks to your Yautja blood, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Alignment

The majority of Yautja strongly adhere to a strict code of honor, resulting in a strong lean towards lawfulness. Some, however, break this code and become "bad bloods", who are typically exiled and hunted.

Unarmed Strikes

Through training and a powerful build, you are never unarmed. If you hit with your fists, you deal bludgeoning damage equal to 1d6 + your Strength or Dexterity modifier.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Yautja. The vocal version of the language is a mix of clicks, growls, roars, and grunts. The written language is multiple dashes that make up letters or numbers.
