Homebrew Draegloth Species Details

Draegloths were half-demon, half-drow monstrosities. They were the progeny of coupling between a glabrezu and a newly ordained high priestess of the drow goddess Lolth.

Draegloths came in several different forms, differentiated by a combination of gender and the species of their mother. The most common were male draegloths born to drow mothers; less common were female draegloths of drow heritage, who were known as "Favored Ones." Rarest still were draegloths born to drider mothers, who were known as "Abominations," which were not gender-differentiated, but did have distinct appearances.

Draegloth Traits

You have the following racial traits.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common, Elvish and Undercommon.

Creature Type

You are considered a Fiend.

Size

Draegloth range from around 7 to over 8 feet tall and have muscular builds. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 35 feet.

Superior Darkvision

Accustomed to the Underdark, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 120 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Keen Senses

You have proficiency in the Perception skill.

Age

Although draegloths reach physical maturity a little before the age of humans, the draegloth can live to be 300 years old.

Reverie

Draegloths don’t need to sleep. Instead, they meditate deeply, remaining semiconscious, for 4 hours a day. (The Common word for such meditation is “trance.”) While meditating, you can dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive through years of practice. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.

Fey Ancestry

You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put you to sleep.

Sunlight Sensitivity

You have disadvantage on attack rolls and on perception checks that rely on sight when you, the target of your attack, or whatever you are trying to perceive is in direct sunlight.

Secondary Arms

You have two slightly smaller secondary arms below your primary pair of arms. The secondary arms function like your primary arms, with the following exceptions:

  • You can use a secondary arm to wield a weapon that has the light property, but you can’t use a secondary arm to wield other kinds of weapons.
  • You can’t wield a shield with a secondary arm

Abyssal Ancestry

Due to your abyssal ancestry you are resistant to poison damage and fire damage; you also have advantage on saving throws against the poisoned condition and for ending the condition.

Claws

Your claws are natural weapons, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with them, you deal slashing damage equal to 1d6 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.
