Homebrew Ch'groth Species Details

Foam and sea, wave and wind, the currents give life, the currents destroy.  Stone makes no mark.  Fire does no harm.  The wind but harries the surface.  Water, it is greater than them all.  We remember.  We remember the call of Balqana, the Siren of Life.  She called us from the slumbering depths, made us more than fin and scale and cold.  We remember the motion of fluid and play of light below.  We remember the terrors of the deeps and the survival of darkness.  Anashelas fell, and One with No Name, without knowing a why, saved the warm fleshed one, left the safety of the darkness and saved the anointed of our Queen, Balqana, from the terror.  Without knowing a why, the One with no name took Anashelas to the warm places, where the waters rushed from the stones, scalding those of lesser flesh.  Without knowing a why, the One without a name gave breath to the Anointed, and the Anointed was saved.  Anashelas, given power from our Queen, enlightened the One without a name, and she became Nol'A'groth, the Giver of Names, the first to breath air, to see the lights of the sky, to taste the secrets of wind and wave and star and currents, the first to know the world, to no longer fear the terrors of the deeps.  She was changed, and we became the Ch'groth, the Named Ones.  Blessed be Nol'A'groth.  Blessed be Anashelas.  Blessed be our Queen, Balqana.

Ch'groth Traits

Born of the sea, they are built for the wind, the water, and the whims of Balqana.

Natural Armor

Due to their affinity with the sea, they have a naturally thick skin.

Natural Dexterity

Living on the deck of a ship or even in a Chala (one man boat) leads to superior balance.

Sheltered

Because of their limited exposure to the world as a whole, they are not as inquisitive as other races.

Sea Legs

Being raised on the sea can be a boring life, but to survive on the sea, in the storms and tides and whirlpools and waves, you need a strong sense of balance.  Any 'groth with poor balance ends up at the bottom of the sea.

Chala

Raised on the sea, you quickly learn to travel in fluid as easily as on land.  Any water craft that can be run by one person, and sometimes two, is child's play to the Ch'groth.

Inerrant Navigation

Raised on the sea, you gain a sense of the stars, the mountains, the turn of the world.  You always know the direction you need to travel.

Water Wyrd

Over the millennia, the sea has placed harsh environments in our path.  We have overcome and relish the sea in our faces, the cold on our bones, and the ice under our feet.

Bumbling

There is no need or way to hide on the sea.  You either survive or die with the enemy in your face.
