Homebrew Arcanoid Species Details

Arcanoids are magic taken humanoid form, it could be from some experiments, an overflow of magic, or some spell gone wrong, Whatever it may be in these cases an Arcanoid will appear. These beings use their natural magical prowess to give spells extra power and resist magical effects. However their powers are weakened in magic dampening fields but they cannot remove their magic.

 Creating Your Character

At 1st level, you choose whether your character is a member of the human race or of a fantastical race. If you select a fantastical race, follow these additional rules during character creation.

Ability Score Increases

When determining your character’s ability scores, increase one score by 2 and increase a different score by 1, or increase three different scores by 1.

Languages

Your character can speak, read, and write Common and one other language that you and your DM agree is appropriate for the character.

Creature Type

 You are an elemental.

Life Span

From the powerful arcane power within you, you are able to live for a very long time being able to live for eons.

Height and Weight

depending on the amount of arcane energy within you, you may have varying heights and weights, at a minimum you are at least 3 feel tall, at most you could be 7 feet tall. At a minimum you are at least 60 pounds, at most you are 275 pounds.

Arcanoid Traits

As a Arcanoid, you have the following racial traits.

Creature Type

You are an Elemental.

Size

Your size is Medium or Small. You choose the size when you select this race.

Speed

Your walking speed is 30 feet and you can hover 10 feet in the air.

Magical Prowess

Being made of Arcana and Magic, you gain proficiency in Arcana along with getting double proficiency in it.

Arcane Resistance

You are resistant to force damage.

Dampening resistance

Due to your powerful arcane energy, you and the spells you cast are able to resist the magic nullifying effects of magic dampeners or spells that dispel magic, however when in this field you have disadvantage on attack rolls and others have advantage on saving throws against your spells. If you targeted by dispel magic you must make a CON save of 11 + the max spell slot level the caster has access to, on a failure you suffer from the same effects as if you where in a magic dampening/nullifying field for 30 seconds (5 rounds).

Unknown Knowledge

At 5th level you get to choose 1 of 5 spells no other being knows and once per long rest after you cast it you can use your bonus action to cast another spell of the same spell level or lower spell level.

If you cannot normally cast spells with your class, you can cast the spell up to 3 times per short rest.
