Homebrew Barbampir Species Details

Dhampirs, residing at the crossroads of life and death, walk a precarious line, constantly grappling with insatiable cravings. Their connection to the realm of the undead endows them with a glimpse of a vampire's enduring abilities, including heightened speed, the gift of darkvision, and a life-draining bite.

Blessed with a unique understanding of the undead, many dhampirs are drawn to the life of adventurers and monster hunters. Their motivations are often deeply rooted in their personal experiences. Some are thrill-seekers, seeing in monsters a reflection of their own unyielding desires. Others embark on a quest for vengeance against the very circumstances that turned them into dhampirs. A few opt for a life of isolation, determined to distance themselves from those who might unwittingly awaken their inner hunger.

Darkvision

You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light and in darkness as if it were dim light. You discern colors in that darkness as shades of gray.

Deathless Nature

Breathing is unnecessary for you.

Spider Climb

You have a climbing speed equal to your walking speed. At 3rd level, you gain the capacity to move effortlessly up, down, and across vertical surfaces, as well as traverse ceilings while keeping your hands free.

Vampiric Bite

Your natural fanged bite serves as a simple melee weapon with which you are proficient. When you make an attack with this bite, you add your Constitution modifier instead of your Strength modifier to both the attack and damage rolls. It inflicts 1d4 piercing damage upon a successful hit. If your hit points are reduced to half or less of your maximum, you gain advantage on attack rolls made with this bite.

When you attack with this bite and successfully hit a creature that is neither a Construct nor an Undead, you can empower yourself in one of the following ways:

  • You recover hit points equal to the piercing damage dealt by the bite.
  • You gain a bonus on the next ability check or attack roll you make. The bonus is equivalent to the piercing damage dealt by the bite.

You can empower yourself with this bite a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses after finishing a long rest.
