Half Human, Half Slime

The Demi-Slime are the result of a union of sorts between a Human and a Sentient Slime. The Demi- Slime takes physical elements from both parents, the child will keep a physical form closely resembling the Human parent, while all parts of their body, hair and nails will be gelatinous in consistency, however unlike a slime where a creature may be able to pass through them with some effort, this is not the case with the Demi-Slime, the membrane that holds their body together is much stronger than a normal slime membrane and more closely resembles skin, though translucent, the Demi-Human's Slime interior also houses organs like that of a Human as well as bones (Which cannot be seen as the slime in the body is too thick), though arguably much softer and malleable than that of a Human's. The Demi-Slime is resistant to Acid, though not immune and it's slime "blood" has also lost it's acidity. Demi-Slimes are also able to shape shift, but are limited to creatures of similar size and build to itself and also for not too long. The color of the Demi-Slime's slime blood will match the color of the sentient slime parent. And though the Demi-Slime is unable to permanently and freely shapeshift, it is able to make small permanent changes to its appearance and physical features.

Born of Love

Demi-Slimes are born when the pure love between a Sentient Slime and a Human is tested and proven to be true. Sentient Slimes first gained their sentience when assimilating a sentient creature and truly understanding the memories and ideals of their victim, in these very rare circumstances the Sentient Slime becomes truly aware of itself and its surroundings it will then use its new found sentience to form an identity, often closely resembling what the victim would have considered the ideal being, both physically and mentally. After shaping itself this way it will venture into civilized settlements and live amongst the people there. The Sentient Slime will keep up its appearances and will typically stop consuming sentient creatures altogether, the Slime will travel from village to village learning more about itself and the world, until it has truly perfected its new persona. Once it feels comfortable enough with itself it will try to settle down in a populated place it likes and will live out its life there. Sometimes, however the Slime will seek out companionship, and the reasoning for why this occurs is often debated, Slimes are not typically social creatures and are asexual and reproduce asexually and as such are naturally inclined to live alone even as part of a community. Some scholars believe that the desire for companionship is due to the memories and influences of the creature that the Slime initially consumed to become sentient, others believe that while exploring its own sentience the creature developed a need for companionship, the truth is a mystery as the rarity of a Sentient Slime is already incredibly unlikely and then one that also seeks companionship is even more rare on top of that, it is unlikely any one researched will be able to test their theories with any real efficiency. Currently all Demi-Slimes are human and this is believed to be because of how genetically flexible Humans are, with the most variants in their own race than any other race and also the ability to breed with other races successfully as well, though again due to the rarity of Demi-Slimes it is still not conclusively known if a Demi-Slime can be born from another race or not.

The Sentient Slime also cannot be forced to make a Demi-Slime, as the process requires it to consume a Human and see their memories and experiences, even if the Slime had been tricked until this point, the Human would have no way of hiding their lies and would perish with the slime not triggering the reproduction. And due to the sheer rarity of a Sentient Slime, currently it is not known if there would be any successful way to force reproduction, though it is heavily theorized.

Adored By All

Demi-Slimes are quite beloved in Human society and many see them as Avatars of True Love, often believing that meeting one will mean good fortune in anything to do with love. Many Humans will also, selfishly, try to seduce a Sentient Slime if they are fortunate enough to meet one, as it is also viewed as a way to become immortal as the Demi-Slime carries the memories, experiences and form of the Human, even if they are a new person, many believe the consciousness of the Human still exists in the Demi-Slime. Most of these seduction efforts if successful will still ultimately fail once the Slime consumes the person and finds they lied the entire time.

Reproduction

Sentient Slimes are able to create and mimic genitalia and control the acidity in their body, and as such are able to have intercourse like other races, however the Slime often derives no pleasure from the experience and for the Human, it can take several tries for the slime to actually replicate the act well, and often times may unintentionally harm the person during the learning process. So while a sexual relationship is possible, most Demi-Slimes are born from parents who were both typically asexual. The Demi-Slime themselves can vary in terms of sexual orientation, but are almost always Gender Fluid, largely because of their Slime parent who was genderless and while they will be born with the same genitalia of the Human parent, they may choose to change this, based on what they feel best suits their identity. Demi-Slimes also reproduce like Humans and will have the same reproductive organs of their Human parent at birth, though it is something they can alter. Demi-Slimes who bring a child to term and birth them will give birth to a new Demi-Slime, however this process will cause the death of the parent Demi-Slime and the child will not inherit the memories of the parent. Demi-Slimes who impregnate another creature successfully will not perish, but the resulting child will not be a Demi-Slime, if the other parent was Human the child born will be fully human otherwise will be half Human and half the other race, the child born this way will resemble the Human half of the Demi-Slime and the other parent and gain no aspects of the Slime half of their parent.

Again because so few Demi-Slimes have ever existed it is truly not known if these instances were a coincidence or an unchangeable fact. Too little is known about the Demi-Slimes for one to make an objective claim about their genetic traits.

A Lovely Slime

Once upon a time in a sleepy little hamlet lived a beautiful Human woman, named Slimora. Slimora was adored by all the townspeople, as she was kind, beautiful and charming. Whenever Slimora would go on a walk through the village, the people would call to her to come chat with them, and on most days Slimora would have stopped by and chatted with each and every one of them. But today was different. Today was an important day. Today was the day that Slimora would be married!

Slimora marched on past the village folk, never fully stopping, but still cheerful and joyous, her infectious smile and presence still warming the hearts of all those she passed. Soon Slimora would arrive at a quaint little chapel on the far side of the hamlet. Slimora stood in front of the large chapel doors and composed herself. She was scared. Not of her soon to be husband - whom she adored more than life itself. Not of the many happy faces there to wish her well. Not of her life that was about to undergo a steep change. But of herself, or rather a secret she had held for a long time. Slimora was a Slime, not a Human, nor a girl, but a mass of gelatinous goo, and the truth being revealed scared her to her core.

Slimora had resolved to tell her soon-to-be husband the truth, then and there in front of all the village people she loved so dearly. She was scared of their reaction, scared they would reject her, scared they would hate her, for lying and even more so, for not being like they are, not being a proper being but rather a monster. But even still, she wanted to shed the lies and live honestly side by side with them.

Slimora, steeled herself and marched into the chapel, where she was met with the adoring gazes of the townsfolk, and most importantly of all, the loving face of Anders, her beloved. Slimora walked slowly until she stood by his side, he took her hands in his and stared lovingly into her eyes, and she stared lovingly back. The Priest began the ceremony, his speech inspiring thoughts of true love and loyalty that the happy couple embodied, painting a vivid portrait an unshakeable bond. Eventually he would come to ask the couple,

"Before your journey begins anew, do either of you have anything to confess? If so, do it now and may it be accepted and forgiven, so your marriage may stand firm in trust and faith"

Anders was the first to break the silence "Slimora, I confess to you that I have been lying to you, I have been eating madam Nells delicious crumb cakes despite my diet and I hope you can for give me!"

The chapel erupts into soft chuckles and chatter and Anders himself laughs, albeit a bit nervously waiting to see Slimora's reaction to his deceit.

Slimora smiled at him, and as her gaze met his she replied

"Dear Anders, I will easily forgive any of your transgressions - "

The chapel once again alight with soft cheers and clapping.

"- And I hope you can forgive mine... Anders I have been keeping a big secret from you" Slimora's tone shifts so sharply that the entire chapel quietens once more and Anders' expression darkens in fear of what she is about to say.

"I am not who you think I am... I am not what you think I am..." Slimora pauses trying to collect herself, now unable to look at Anders.

"I am - I'm not a Human Girl -" Slimora once again has to collect herself, the fear now shaking her very being. Despite all her years, even fighting and almost dying years ago as just a wild slime, she had never felt the kind of fear she felt at this moment, fear of rejection, truly a formidable thing. Eventually, though, she manages to continue,

"I - I am a slime..." she manages to sputter out meekly. Slimora's whole body tensed up and she shut her eyes, terrified of what she may see or hear next, but what followed was not the cries of outrage and anger she feared, nor did she feel Ander's hand across her face, but instead, to her complete bewilderment, she heard uproarious laughter from everyone around her. Dumbfounded she opened her eyes and glanced about to see, yes, everyone was laughing. Unsure of what to say or do Slimora simply stood there, still hand in hand with Anders, who looked as if he would fall over from how hard he was laughing. Eventually Slimora would ask why they were laughing and much to her surprise and embarrassment, they told her that they all already knew she was a slime. Most it seems, had figured it out a long time ago.

They all began listing how it was obvious as her skin was translucent, and how she would melt things with a single touch or how she would leave slime trails wherever she had been. They already knew, and they didn't care, they loved her all the same. Anders loved her all the same. Slimora burst into tears of joy and kissed her husband. The priest would calm the crowd down and proceed to wed the two, who truly knew they were fated to be.

Slimora and Anders lived out the next several decades together in bliss and happiness, however as time went on Anders would age and Slimora did not, and eventually the time for Anders to pass on would come, but Slimora refused to accept this, she searched high and low for a way to save him, but ultimately she failed. Finally on his death bed, Anders made a request to Slimora, he did not want to pass on just like that, to only continue as a mere memory, he wanted to be more to her, he wanted to leave her with more, he wanted Slimora to absorb him, so that they may finally become one and she would have a piece of him with her forever. Initially reluctant, Slimora finally accepted his dying request, however Slimora also decided she would pass on with him, she would trigger her body's natural ability to reproduce to birth a new slime at the cost of her own life and this new slime would live on a new being and she and Anders would pass on one into the afterlife. Together forever.

However when Slimora did this, something unexpected happened, during the absorption process, two beings were born, one a Sentient baby Slime just as Slimora had planned for, but also a second half slime, half human creature that had never existed before, this new creature was the spitting image of Anders when he was a teenager, but also had the slime like qualities of Slimora, but that's not all, while this creature was its own being, it had the memories and experiences of both Slimora and Anders. Their love had manifested a miracle and gave form to the truest expression of adoration, Andora the first Demi-Slime.

Andora along with her sibling would continue to live in that same sleepy hamlet, happily ever after, a living reminder of the miracle of love

 - This is a famous children's story depicting the birth of the first Demi-Slime, it is not known how true any of the elements of this story are, but it is largely believed to be a somewhat true story.

Naming Conventions

Since Demi-Slimes are born of the union of two creatures they will choose a name that takes aspects from both of their parents' names, such as Andora whose name was a combination of Anders and Slimora. Demi-Slimes understand the use of gendered names and it isn't unlikely that they may choose such a name based on their gender, most known Demi-Slimes simply pick a name they like the most and it is often a combination of their parents' names.

Amorphic Disguise

The Demi-Slime has inherited a portion of the Sentient slime's ability to change their form. The Demi-Slime's normal appearance can be altered and maintained indefinitely based on what the Demi-Slime considers to be its true form, in most cases this form will be form they were born into, but in some cases they will make changes to this form, different hairstyles, age and even gender, so long as the form feels like who they truly are they are able to sustain it indefinitely. In the case of transforming into something they aren't, unlike a Sentient Slime, the Demi-Slime is much more limited. The Demi-Slime can alter their size and body shape to any humanoid creature one size up or below their normal form (If normally medium can become a small, medium or large creature), the efficacy of the transformation depends on how familiar the Slime is with the being they are impersonating, the more time they spend learning about their target the more convincing the transformation will be. Like the Sentient Slime, the Demi-Slime can also absorb a body into themselves, however due to their far less acidic slime blood, they cannot dissolve the body completely and will have to regurgitate it out. If a Demi-Slime does absorb a body they can mimic that body's form perfectly, though again it is a temporary transformation that requires the Demi-Slime to hold the body they are copying within themselves, once the body is expelled they cannot make the perfect transformation themselves, and the absorption process will disfigure the body to the point it will become indistinguishable from its original state. Like the Sentient Slime the Demi-Slime can also absorb the memories of a living subject it absorbs, however the Demi-Slime who does this will not only absorb the memories of the target, but will also feel what they feel, including the fear, panic and pain of slowly being killed within the Demi-Slimes body, because of this, Demi-Slimes will often refuse to absorb a living target, as the experience of feeling the death of a creature inside of themselves is intensely unpleasant and often traumatic.

 

Demi-Slime Traits

Amorphic Disguise

The Demi-Slime, with some effort is able to change its form to match that of another. The Demi-Slime is able to change its slime color, its physical features and alter its height (Increase/decrease up to a foot max). This transformation only lasts an hour and the efficacy of the transformation is based on how much detail is available to the Demi-Slime.

Casting time is 1 Action, and efficacy is based on the following:

• DC10 wisdom check, for other creatures to recognize that the creature is not who they seem to be, if the Demi-Slime attempts to transform into someone they hardly know or have seen before in passing or based on a description from another.
• DC15 wisdom check for other creatures to recognize that the creature is not who they seem to be, if the Demi-Slime takes the time to observe the person they are trying to mimic for at least an hour prior to transforming into them.
• DC20 wisdom check for other creatures to recognize that the creature is not who they seem to be, if the Demi-Slime takes the time to observe their target for mimicry for at least a day prior to transforming into them.
• All creatures who know the target will be fooled into believing that the Demi-Slime is the target - even upon close inspection -  if the Demi-Slime consumes the corpse of the target. The Demi-Slime will be forced to expel the corpse after 1 hour and any strong force to the Demi-Slime will require they succeed a DC15 Constitution saving throw in order to not expel the body early. The Demi-Slime will not gain any memories from the corpse and as such may still be discovered if questioned by other creatures.
• All creatures who know the target will be fooled into believing that the Demi-Slime is the target - even upon close inspection and questioning-  if the Demi-Slime consumes the still living body of their target, then they will like before will be able to mimic their form perfectly and gain the memories of the target, the consumption process will kill the target and the Demi-slime must also succeed a DC20 Wisdom saving throw or be stunned for one turn and fail to consume the body as they are struck by the pain, suffering and fear of their dying target's emotions and memories. The Demi-Slime will also need to make a DC15 Constitution saving throw in order to not expel the body if they receive a strong enough force to their body.

Once the Demi-Slime cancels the transformation, willingly or unwillingly, the Demi-Slime must short rest before being able to use this ability again.
