Homebrew Avarian Species Details

Distant kin of many avian species, avarians come in many shapes and sizes, from petite and fluffy to wide-winged and majestic. Similar to that of humanoid creatures, they do have arms and legs and are bipedal. However, feathered wings sprout from their shoulders and backs, and clawed feet or feathered/winged arms are not uncommon. Most Avarian's also have feathers that grow and sport from their ears, though they do not hinder hearing. Their eyes often bear characteristics of the birds they are often related to, and often glow in the dark. Another strange but interesting characteristic is that avarians are graced with a long, feathered tail. The tail itself is often long, averaging around 4-to-5 feet, and has a smooth, fur-like texture. The tip itself ends with a huge clump of fur and feathers. This tail helps them steer in flight, and can even help them hang upside if they so wish. Like avians, avarians are graced with feathers that make no sound when they move or fly, making it easy for them to sneak up on you in the library.  Many avarians might also be nocturnal, choosing to sleep during the day if needed and stay awake at night.

Some common forms of Avarians include Parrots, Eagles, and Hummingbirds, even.

Avarians are often very energetic creatures. They are playful, and love causing almost harmless mischief. Some do have a more evil side but are typically very good at hiding it. Their alignment falls under any chaotic category, including Chaotic Good, Chaotic Neutral, and Chaotic Evil.

Avarians are also hoarders. They love anything that sparkles/ is shiny, and as such, impulsively steal a lot. If one truly likes someone (platonic or romantic), they will often show you their treasure hoard/collection.

Avarian Traits

Ability Score Increase: Your Stealth score increases by 2, and two other ability scores of your choice increase by 1. Age: Avarians mature at the same rate humans do and reach adulthood around the age of 20. They live much longer than humans, however, often exceeding 150 years. Size: Avarians are roughly the same size as humans with some differences in heaight depending on their kin. height ranges from 4 to 6 and a half feet tall. Darkvision: Because of your kin to avians, You can see in dim light within 100 feet of yourself as if it were bright light and in darkness as if it were dim light. You discern colors in that darkness only as shades of gray. Flying: because of your wings, you have the ability to fly roughly the same as your walking speed. This becomes redundent if you wear medium heavy armor. Silent Feathers: You have proficiency in the Stealth skill.
