Homebrew Arcane Animancers Species Details

Appearance: Arcane Animancers have a distinctive look, often featuring striking, otherworldly eyes with pupils that seem to shimmer with arcane energy. They are typically of average height with slender builds, and their skin may bear intricate, glowing patterns that signify their bond with summoned minions.

Ability Score Increase: Your Intelligence score increases by 2, and your Wisdom score increases by 1. Arcane Animancers possess a deep understanding of magical forces and an innate wisdom for controlling their summoned minions.

Summoner's Prowess: Arcane Animancers have a natural talent for summoning minions. You have access to the "Summoner's Calling" ability, allowing you to cast a specific "Conjure Minion" spell three times before needing a long rest. The exact minion types can be chosen during character creation. These minions can serve you until it is reduced to 0 hit points.

Minion's Vulnerability: Your focus on summoning makes you more vulnerable. When a minion is hit, you will take 1/4 the damage it takes, so if it takes 24 damage you take 6 damage. 

Minion Bond: You can choose one of the following abilities to strengthen your bond with your minions:

  1. Enhanced Minions: Your summoned minions gain a bonus to their attack rolls and damage equal to your proficiency bonus.

  2. Swift Summons: You can summon your minions as a bonus action instead of a full action.

  3. Minion Resilience: Your minions have temporary hit points equal to your level, making them more durable in combat.

Minion Communication: You can communicate telepathically with your summoned minions, even across different planes of existence.

 Languages: You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language of your choice, often one associated with your character's background.

Alignment: Arcane Animancers are typically neutral in alignment, focusing on the balance of power between themselves and their minions.

Background: Arcane Animancers often come from backgrounds involving arcane research or magical craftsmanship, where they developed their affinity for summoning minions.

Summon Minion

Uses this spell to summon a minion as a quick action/bonus action or a full action depending on what you choice for your minion skill

Minion Bond: You can choose one of the following abilities to strengthen your bond with your minions:

Random Minions

You do not get to pick what type of minion you get. There is a 1/5 chance to get a specif minion, the following include,

Ghost/Poltergeists: deal less damage but can walk through walls, fly,  or interact with objects better or use them for damage from above

The Undead: Usually including skeleton warrior or zombies, these creature have a 1/5 chance when defeated/slain to rise again from the grave

Elemental monsters: Smaller version of elemental, they have a specif spell they can use once in their life and have a specific defense to what element they are

Monsters: regular old monster like goblins or an org, can use weapons to deal a little more damage but you must give them the weapon

Miscellaneous: creatures that don't fit into the categories above like a living tree  

  

 

Combine minions

When you summon two of the same type so and undead and an undead, you can combine them if they are close enough to each other.

This can only be used once before needing a short rest to use again.

it doesn't matter if the creature is a goblin and a org, as long as they are a part of the same category, they will fused together and make a mutated version of those two or just make a bigger version. 

There is a chance to fail the combining ritual, if you get an odd number you will succeed with the exception of a net twenty, and an odd number will fail
