Homebrew Avian Species Details

An Avian is a human/bird hybrid thought to be descended from humans mixing with bird-like creatures. An avian is, essentially, a human with feathers. They age at the same rate as humans and appear fundamentally similar to them, save for the feathery features. Their main features are listed below. 

• Wings, come in a variety of colors and patterns to match a different species of bird. 
• A large feathered tail, used for stability during flight. 
• Feathered growths were a human's ears would be. These hide the actual ears, little slits in the side of the head. 
• Enhanced eyesight and eye markings resembling eyeliner
• Somewhat enhanced hearing, birdlike noises mimic a language. 
• Live in "flocks" or small family group, very protective.
• Very strong torso's and back, typically lithe and thin.

Enhanced Eyesight

Because of their flight Avian's needed to develop the ability to see well on the ground. Their eyesight sharpened and black marking developed around their eyes to block out certain glares. Grants advantage on perception checks and darkvision.

Heightened Hearing

Avian's have the gift of heightened hearing, allowing them to hunt or detect predators in a clearer sense.

Bird Speech

This is a language that only Avian's can understand. It also allows Avian's to communicate with birds. Grants Speak with Animals but only when it comes to birds. 

Nimble

This trait adds a +2 to your Dex. 

Sensitive Ears

This trait gives you a vulnerability to Thunder Damage.

Skybound

This trait gives you disadvantage to all checks when underground.
