Homebrew Airren Species Details

Airren are a race of magical people of people belonging to the sky. It's believed they were cloud spirits that came down to the Humans, enamored with those below. 

Weightless & Graceful

With their slender, thin, and fine features, airren appear strangely close to humans but are distinctly separate. They are slightly taller than humans on average, ranging well over 5 feet to just under 7 feet. They are more slender than humans, and weigh significantly less, around 50 - 100 pounds. All genders are about the same height. 

Airren's coloration encompasses the normal human race and also includes skin in shades of copper, bronze, and almost bluish-white, hair of a variety of colours, and eyes most often more natural colors, often resulting in blue. Airren have no facial hair and little to no body hair. They often keep their hair cut short due to travel patterns, and wear long loose clothing they can use to be sails. They wear simple jewelry. 

Airren are able to float with their lightweight bodies, utilizing the wind and other flying magics to travel. Airren have incredibly light bones. They're tall and spindly. 

Gone With the Wind

A lot like human's, their age range is about standard to a human's life. 

They harness the wind to travel alongside other magics to travel. All Airren have the ability to float, they float above the ground, can hover, and catch the wind in their clothes to catch the wind and go. They use this floating power as well to prevent falls. They can't control the fall but they can control the power of the impact. Alongside side their flying magic, they can utilize to propel and give themselves a boost.

Airren naturally are able to cast, Gust of Wind and Control Winds. 

The Plains

Most airren live in flat plains and open spaces. They keep their buildings low and flat to the ground, often resulting in one level homes, or building below the ground. They grow fields that often end up being spun to textiles. Their contact with outsides isn't limited, often living close to human and woodland civilizations. 

Airren encountered outside their own lands are commonly traveling minstrels, sages, or messengers. Human nobles often look to hiring well traveled airren for messengers to be quick to send important memos. 

Exploration & Adventure

Airren take up adventuring out of wanderlust. There's always the want to see the world and the vast sky of all areas they can. Others decide to travel after meeting other adventurers. Others simply want a job other than raising cattle and farming. 

 

Lighthearted

The airren are peaceful, trustworthy and helpful, their civilization and miniature villages work together to bring harmony and ease to living.  

 

Functional Decor

All airren wear anchors, magical weights on their ankles that are controllable by the rings they wear on their fingers. The weights assist on slowing them  down,,

Airren are given standard names that fall in tradition with Human names.

Your airren character has a variety of air abilities, all from the beginning of time when they lived along the clouds.

These are spells of nature that are natural to airren to be able to cast / have.

A lot like human's, their age range is about standard to a human's life.

Airren range from over 6 to just under 7 feet tall and have slender builds. Your size is Medium.

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Keen Senses

You have proficiency in the Perception skill.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Elvish. Elvish is fluid, with subtle intonations and intricate grammar. Elven literature is rich and varied, and their songs and poems are famous among other races. Many bards learn their language so they can add Elvish ballads to their repertoires.
