Homebrew Catfolk Species Details

The Second Kingdom: The catfolk separated from their tabaxi kin on the orders of Mia a long time ago, slowly building the Second Kingdom out of the ashes of the Southeast City of the Primal Empire. They built their kingdom around the Eye of Cattura, an eye-shaped central fortress containing the Catturan Palace and multiple temples dedicated to the Host. They have maintained a matriarchy througout history, with very few exceptions. They are currently ruled by High Priestess Miaovan Ethirel.

Divine Sorcery: The catfolk's connection to Mia and the Host gave them magical abilities shown in their markings. While elemental markings are most common, many female catfolk are born with white markings, setting them apart as priests. The rarest markings are those that reflect the Arcane Principles: Soul, Arcane, Light, and Darkness. Those born with the ability to use Darkness magic are exiled.

Savage Cousins: The closest kin to the catfolk are the savages, monsters who wreak havoc wherever they go. Savages are rarely born with magic, and tend to be larger and taller than normal catfolk.

Catfolk Names: Catfolk names usually incorporate the name of a god or goddess of the Host, in particular the names of Coco, Luna, and Mia in both Catturan and Common. Other elements of the name depend on the markings that the catfolk has or signs about the child before its birth. Names are given to the catfolk a week after birth to allow the markings to fully develop before the name is given. Family names are usually a combinaion of sounds usually without much meaning, except in certain cases. All family names listed here have a meaning. Male and female names can be used interchangeably. In the case of savages, family names are replaced by a name common to their tribe.
