Homebrew Calaca Species Details
Celebrating life and death, Caraca are the colorfully decorated skeletons who celebrate their own lives for eternity, as long as they have mortals remembering them. Calaca are brought to the mortal world using ofrendas, altars dedicated to celebrating the life of the calaca, usually adorned with sweet bread and marigold flowers.
The presence of a calaca does not inspire fear, instead it inspires joy to celebrate the bond between life and death, mainly through festivities such as dancing, singing, eating, and praying in honor of the calaca. A calaca's presence is usually surrounded by marigold flowers, the smell of candles burning, and massive sombreros. Calaca believe that no soul should be remembered in mourning, that death is but another event in your life to celebrate!
A calaca might become an adventurer after reflecting on their life and deciding it wasn't adventurous enough, or they simply got too tried of party in the land of the dead. Nonetheless, when a calaca dies, their body disintegrates into marigold flower petals in the mortal world while the soul, if their ofrenda is still intact, travels to the Land of the Dead to reform on the next Day of the Dead celebration.
