Homebrew Bugfolk Species Details
Bugfolk are curious creatures that are like kobolds in that they like to steal things from people when they can. They are some of the ugliest creatures there are but some, very very few, can look good, they are averaged at about 120 lbs for an adult bugfolk and have an average height of about 6 ft.
Creatures of the Ground
bugfolk hide in their underground homes like kobolds, they are good at digging these burrows and prefer to stay inside due to what they ar taugh about the outside world. They tend to be on the hideous side and are sometimes assumed to Be monsters when they are not accomponied by another creature.
Bugfolk Traits
Bugfolk are a very adaptable species, as a bugfolk, you get to choose 4 bugfolk traits (excluding darkvision, all bugfolk have it) and one more at levels 10 and 20Chitin Exoskeleton
The chitin exoskeleton has great defense, granting the bugfolk resistance to bludgeoning damage as well as increasing their ac to 14 + your cons mod when not wearing armor. There are many thick plates of chitin though, The bugfolk needs different plates of it to be able to move, but that gives them a weakness to pricing damage due to cracks in the chitin armor. You cannot wear normal armor, it must be specially made by a blacksmith, it will cost 1.5x the normal amount of money and take 2d4 hours to create.
Ability score increase
You gain a +1 to Dex, +2 to cons, a -2 to cha and -1 to intelligence
Darkvision
They can see in dim light as if it were night light out to 60 ft, they can also see in darkness as if it were dim light
Fast reflexes
The bugfolk May take the dodge action as a bonus action in its turn only after hitting an attack
Beatle horn
the horn on the head of the bugfolk gives them a natural weapon that deals 1d8 damage, and they are proficient with it, but the only damage modifier is proficiency, the attack modifier is dexterity. If you hit a wall or door, you must roll a constitution save with a dc of 7, or the horn breaks and regrows in 1d4+2 days. It also grants you advantage on strength (grapple) checks
Plaugebearer
as an attack action on your turn, you can secrete your bacteria in a gasease form in an area 10 feet around you for 10 rounds. Any creature that enters or ends its turn in the cloud must make a constitution save agains a dc of 8+your proficiency bonus + your cons modifier. A creature takes 2d8 poison damage on a failed save and half as much on a successful one, this damage increases to 3d8 at 6th level, 4d8 at 11th level, 5d8 at 16th level and 5d12 at 20th level.
Age
Bugfolk reach maturity at age 16 and live to about 55 years old, but they can manage to live longer above ground, some that live above ground can even reach 100 years old.
Alignment
Being ridiculed most of their life, they tend toward the chaotic side of alignments and are mostly neutral or evil, few bugfilk turn out to be good or lawful.
Languages
Bugfolk know a total of two languages, common and bug, but common can be traded out for undercommon
Speed
Bugfolk have legs that carry them at 25 feet per turn, they also have clawed hands that allow them to burrow at a speed of 20 feet per turn, and finally they have their wings that allow them to fly at a slow speed of 25 feet.
Winged warrior
You are a different kind of bugfolk, you have 4 wings! Your fly speed doubles and you gain the ability to carry creatures 1 size above your size category (you can even fly high and drop them if you would like)
Spiny Legs
This trait gives you a climb speed of 40 feet and allows you to even climb on difficult terrain as if it were normal terrain
Sharp claws
This trait increases your burrow speed to 50 feet and gives you a natural wepon that you are proficient with, using strength as the modifier, your claws deal 1d6 damage as a bonus action or action.
Helpful Pathogens
You live with batería that gives you immunity to disease and poison and resistance to acid
Adaptive Species
This trait gives you a temporary +2 to one stat of your choice after every long rest or for one hit die in each short rest
Leech
You may take an action to make a strength (grapple) check, on a success you bite the creature and suck it’s blood, the bite deals 1d6+cons mod piercing damage, the saliva deals 1d4 damage per round for 10 rounds, the player using the ability absorbs the health that the target of the ability lost due to the saliva.
Ant-like Build
Your strength stat increases by 1 and you are considered one size larger when determining your carry wieght
Extra Limbs
You get 2 extra limbs of your choice and gain abilities base upon that choice. You may choose to either gain 2 more legs or 2 more arms.
Legs
when you choose to have 2 extra legs, you double your walking speed, gain advantage against strength (grapple) saves, and can use a bonus action to make 2 unarmed strikes with these legs.
Arms
when you choose to gain 2 extra arms you can wield two 2 handed weapons if you have the dual wielder feat, they also give you advantage on strength (grapple) checks. Two manacles are required to restrain you. If you have the sharp claws trait, your burrow speed doubles.
